He is out at Arkansas State. This makes me sad. I was very vocal about wanting Cohen to be our baseball coach in 2008 but I still pulled for Raffo and I wanted to see him do well.

Raffo is a good dude. Shame he couldn't have more success but as long as he's been around I'm sure he can find a good job. I'll be pulling for him.

Does he coach hitting?

Actually yes and could be useful altho not in a lead role. In no way do we need him as a recruiter

Raffo was a great collegiate hitter and a great collegiate 1B. He was the most dangerous hitter on the loaded 1989 team. Led the team in average, home runs, and rbi. Was a golden spikes and SEC triple crown candidate. Maybe if MSU had dispatched North Carolina in the regional, TR would have won Golden Spikes. The Dick Howser and Golden Spikes winners both played in Omaha in 89.

Had a losing record but spent 15 years as their head coach. How did he last that long?

Man brings tears and agony thinking about that loade and deep in talent 89 team. Best top to bottom lineup I ever saw following MSU baseball. Plus Bobby Reed was a great #1 starter.

Because ASU gives less than zero f**** about baseball. The fact that he was able to win the amount of games he did there is a small miracle. Not saying in any way, shape, or form that we should’ve hired him, because we shouldn’t have. But he is better than the results at ASU.

I would not want him back as a hitting coach.

The baseball stadium is high school quality. And this is a team that is in the same conference as USM. It never seemed like he took advantage of the Memphis market or the Mississippi JUCO market. La Tech has made a living off of the Mississippi JUCO's alone almost.

I think you're just behind the 8 ball to begin with from a recruiting standpoint. You're in BFE Arkansas, the recruiting budget is non existent, and most JUCO stadiums are nicer than theirs. I think he let pride get in the way of logical thinking when he didn't get our job and instead of taking a good asst job somewhere, he jumped at the first HC offer he got. He could've gotten on to a staff at either another SEC school or at least another P5, waited a couple of years to get out of Polk's shadow, and gotten a way better G5 job.
