Some notable hosts from last few years:
2023 Auburn was 17-13 in SEC and #29 RPI
2022 Florida was 15-15 in SEC and #16 in RPI
2021 Florida was 17-13 in SEC and #26 RPI
2022 Louisville was 18-12 in ACC and #21 in RPI
2021 Miami was 20-10 in ACC and #27 RPI
2022 OkSt was 15-9 in BIG12 and #20 RPI
Recent history shows us if you have a really good conference record in the SEC or another major conference and an RPI that is top 29 you are hosting.
I could only go back to 2020-2021 season but since then every SEC team to have 17 or more conference wins has hosted no matter their RPI.
2021 South Carolina at 16-14 in SEC and #21 in RPI and 2021 UCLA at 20-10 PAC12 and #27 RPI are the only comparable resumes I have seen that did not host. I have yet to find an SEC team with 17+ conference wins and an RPI in top 29 that has not hosted.

I think with the win yesterday that we should host but it all depends on how the other teams resume's look also.

2019 LSU hosted with a 17-13 SEC record and #21 RPI

If we win tonight, we're a lock.
If we lose, it could still go either way

Ark and lsu had 18 and 17 wins w roi of 14 and 17 and didn't host in I believe 22.

One thing helping us from a financial standpoint, even though there's no longer bids, is that LSU and OM both are not hosting. Us and Arky will draw the biggest crowds BY FAR. Everyone else will draw between 5-7. A&M and Tenn may push 8. We'll draw 14K and Arky will be around 11-12K. They can say financials don't matter anymore, but the only color that matters in their eyes is green. And we bring in A LOT of it.

According to Rosebowl (I know) the word on the street is they're gong to take 6 SEC teams for host sites which kind of makes sense because I had heard that they were taking 11 SEC teams.
We'll see if it is true and I hope it is since my girlfriend feels bad about scheduling Mt. St. Mary's.**

And FWIW the announcers during the game were basically saying that they expected us to host.

The way it looks everyone but om, auburn and mizzou will be in a regional. If we win today I think it locks up a host spot. Even if we lose we should gain an rpi spot or 2 and still can get a couple more wins in the SECT. Just need to keep winning and let the chips fall.

According to Q- your RPI numbers are after the Tourney. For example- Auburn was a 19 RPI last year when hosts were announced but ended up a 29 after a couple of Regional losses.

Win tonight and it's a lock. All these teams with nothing to play for seem to be leaving early too. Maybe A&M will feel that way. Big field helps against them as well.

I agree. I think last night may have locked us in but a win tonight would certainly do it

There's also another metric the NCAA is adding to its tool bag to assist with selection called the KPI and State is currently 11th. KPI is another attempt to neutralize the fallacies presented by RPI such as Oregon St fielding an RPI of 13 but only based on 6 Q1 games (where they are 3-3) vs Okie St (RPI of 17 with 20 Q1 games and State (RPI of 22 with 27 Q1 games).
Supposedly this is the NCAA's justification for warning all teams about cancelling RPI-dragging games late in the season (think North Alabama dropping our RPI 3 spots by playing them). RPI probably won't he the end-all be-all for host criteria that it has been in the past.

I fully expect the RPI formula to be reworked this offseason.

It needs to be. It really doesnt do the job correctly. The new KPI is much closer to being accurate.

It's pretty clear ark tried to win. Went to the big gun fr in a 4-4 tie. Just gave up a bomb. Scrapped in the last to tie it. Just didn't get it done

We currently sit at #10 in KPI with a 5-5 record against teams higher than us.
