Well, with NC State on the verge of sweeping Wake, that probably knocks Wake out of a host as they'll be only 15-15 in the ACC Atlantic division (even behind 4th place L'ville who has 16 conference wins). Wake is turning out to be the ACC's version of Bama and will probably be to top #2 seed. I'm feeling pretty good also about being a host even if we lose today.

I'm not pessimistic about the regionals. This team had the capacity to win 20 SEC games. Hujsak, Dohm, and Cupp being healthy would be huge. Kohler and Larry are playing better. If Hines or Jordan suddenly get hot, the team can go a long way. They can go to College Station, Fayetteville or Lexington and win 2 of 3. Can do it.

(1) Must run the bases better, tell everyone they are not as handsome and fast as their mom says, "you are not handsome or fast, unless I say you are handsome and fast". Point at Larry and say, you are slow, etc.
(2) no more science fair pitching outings for Dotson or Stevens
(3) O'Brien can't hit right now. Stop playing him. We iced McKenzie who also can't hit, Lemon's knows how.
(4) I would say, bat Stevens more but he's been iced for the year and wasted.
(5) play every game like the other guys want to win, even on Sunday

This would have been a sweep with Hujsak in the lineup, he is a two run differential per game.

This was like game-3 vs Alabama and game-3 Ole Miss, just threw away a game. But this time Dotson just blew the lead, vs Alabama, the Tide were spotted 4 runs. Vs Alabama, Even tossed in Stevens for an extra run. You pitch Dotson, Holcombe, or Cheatham you are going to lose versus any level of SEC competition. Today, Dotson was bailed out by Gavin Black's DP. But what the hell.

These three loses plus the JL3 game vs UGA, the Stevens show versus UFlorida, and the JL3 night in Oxford. LOL.

Yep, this team is SO Mississippi State that' it's nauseating. Woke up yesterday convinced we would lose because nearly every time this team gets close to doing something special it chokes. The only exceptions might be the Auburn sweep and the Vandy series win but the Auburn sweep was done in the 3rd game in extra innings and the 3rd game win against Vandy had to be done with 2 outs in the 9th. This team is just missing the clutch factor. Seems every time they feel a little pressure they can't perform. 3 runs in a Sunday game won't win even 10% of the time and we knew we likely had to win yesterday to host. Hard to see us winning a road regional given we've only won one road series the entire year, and as mentioned, that one got pulled out when down to our last out. This team has just left so many opportunities on the table all year it's unreal. Anyway, on to the SEC tournament. We will.see what happens there but the city of Starkville likely lost a lot of money with the loss yesterday to a team that had nothing to play for.

Perspective- I did not even expect to win 17 wins. I expected this weekend to start at 12 or 13 wins and we could scrape into the Post Season with a series win vs Missouri. Hosting seemed like an impossible goal. They nearly achieved it and maybe still could host.

Counter Logically- maybe it's good to lose to Missouri. Everyone has to think of the little things they can improve. In 2021 they lost a series to Missouri. Every out counts. Errors lead to big innings. DJ and HH better be ready to bunt people over for more clutch hitters like Hujsak and Larry. Humbling.

Series record away is also negative but also promising

(1) For Texas A&M, MSU had no Dohm or Pico. The staff was using Stevens and Dotson as top relief. Stretched CJ. Did not know that Montgomery owns CJ. Started a pitcher that MSU would not use on Jackson State nowadays. Larry was a 2-14 lead off man. Brooks Auger pitched 1 inning for the week.
(2) For Florida, MsU had no Dohm or Pico. Used an overmatched freshman as the closer. Had Ligon starting a game! Had Siary trying to close a game! Insanity! Larry as the 1-11 lead off man. Davis, Auger, and Hardin combined pitched fewer innings than Siary, Stevens, and Ligon by x2. Had Kohler fielded one ball cleanly. Win 2 of 3, regardless.
(3) For OM, again no Dohm or Pico. Still had Larry as 0.100 hitting lead off man. DH with O'Brien! DH with Spillata! Then game-3 featured dudes that can't be pitched versus Samford. Powell never batted, Pulliam never played, and Chance was part time. Powell has to watch "DH's" go 1-15 for the weekend, amazing. Then the low IQ JL3 game.
(4) For Arkansas, we played like a normal weekend. Arkansas played like it was a super regional. They used relievers multiple times and MSU never realized that LHP basically turn Arkansas into Missouri.

MSU can be far better set up to play any of these series again, next time. Also, the mistakes were more coaching and selection than players.
