Softball chose to sit some girls today to play Sr players. We're fighting for seeding and doing that? That's frustrating and hard to understand.

We have a great coach and I trust her instincts and decisioning implicitly. Just my opinion, but one I happen to agree with.

Yeah. It's hard to honor seniors and we should if at all possible but not at the expense of the whole team.

I’m not a fan of “Senior Day”. It’s too emotional. We often lay an egg on senior day, especially in women’s sports. Do it after the game.

No that's stupid. Not frustrating

We came back and won 2-3 from 12th ranked UGA. We also broke the season attendance record after making the decision to charge admission (should've been done years ago). We finished top 8 in the conference which is strong.

I really thought 2 years ago was just an anomaly, but Ricketts really seems to have brought the program up to not only a respectable level but even a few levels above that. Still a ways to go, especially with OU coming into the SEC next year, but to have them ranked inside the Top 20 most of the year is damn impressive, especially at State where we have been historically average to below average.

Softball coaches at Mississippi schools have incredibly tough jobs. There's no P5 talent in this state outside one or two a year (in a good year).
We're going to have to keep Cohen away. But I don't think Ricketts leaves unless it's a west coast job (just opinion). We hit the jackpot on a pitching coach, FR class, and the portal. We need pitching talent and some portal grabs for next year. We can beat anyone when we play well.

What can we do to improve the quality of high school talent in the state? Anything? Identify promising middle-schoolers and get them in regular camps?

Softball needs their version of Ron Polk.

I firmly believe Ron Polk and Mississippi State baseball- and to a lesser degree Delta State which was a program essentially founded by a MSU alum in Boo Ferriss are the biggest reason why Mississippi baseball has improved so much over the years.

Oh without a doubt.

Money, top end softball is more expensive than baseball. Got to play in the top levels in Texas and California and Florida etc. Kids basically have to play travel out of state to get in those top level slots because it's a rigged system. MS has got a lot of local teams to produce Juco players and some teams that have affiliated with big name organizations but they're not generally in that top level except in the SE tourneys sometimes. California is another level. Training is another issue. MS doesn't have enough good training, especially on the pitching side. There's not one single pitching coach in MS I'd send a kid to, outside of the SEC coaches obviously. It's a different world pitching wise outside of MS. Lots of people taking folks money in MS.
