Just so people can have an idea of who we're facing.

Any 10 win team can't be taken lightly...but notice all of the close wins against poor teams. They played A&M decent but half of that game was no Johnny Football due to suspension. Blew out a few teams like UTEP, Louisiana Tech, and Marshall most notably. They run the ball...our strength is our run defense. To me this looks like a game we should dominate, but I've seen stranger things happen.

Here's one of their message board links...

Their Scout board seems non existent. Haven't checked any others.

This may sound like I'm being an arrogant douche bag, but I really cannot fathom how many fans a team like Rice could have.

Ha, you're being realistic. I went to their Scout forum and they have threads about their bowl game LAST YEAR still on the front page! Not enough posts to bump 2012 threads off the front page....can you imagine?

Not many. Only ~3,000 students. Everyone that ever graduated from Rice could fit in Rice Stadium.

Here's what you need to know about Rice.

They are Vanderbilt. They win a few more games because they don't play in the SEC.

Also their demographics don't add up to a large football support base. Large portions of their enrollment are international students (Asian countries) and over half of their enrollment is from out of state. Folks leave the area or have no inherent interest in football. Not that there is anything wrong with that...

I'm just looking forward to Platinum's Bowl game thread - wild rice edition.

That stadium was built for a NFL team. They should move to a local highschool and play their games. That crowd look horrible for a conference championship game.

They're a veteran team. I think I read where they returned 18 of 22 starters off of last years squad (or something to that effect). 5th year senior QB.

Highly considered going to Rice coming out of high school. I thought the campus was great but I didn't think I fit the overall atmosphere of the school (too intense)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember them mentioning that their campus was "wet" and had pubs for undergrads and graduates in the basement of their union. Man that would have been nice after some of the tests I took in college

I see what you're saying, but their attack is not a wishbone offense from what I understand. This is a spread offense similar to what we run. If it were Georgia Tech we were playing...I'd be worried about their run game much more.
