They are not that good. So Btm of 1st 1-0 on a wild pitch by Ligon/ Npw 2-0 on a HR given up by Ligon

The Federalist Engineer

Ligon can't help us in 2024, he's rehabbing on our time . He was signed before Parker joined. I hope his NIL is $3.00.

Saltydog
03-05-2024, 07:32 PM
He's a dead man walking and MOST of us that are being honest with ourselves know that. It's not a question of if, it's when. We're still trash.

The Federalist Engineer

In the Cohen-Butch era, the southern Miss pitcher from Meridian community college would be on the MSU roster. Butch was really good at finding crafty guys from local colleges.

Serious question.....do the players not know that until they learn to hit a curve ....that's all they will see.
I hope Jordan and Hines realize that they won't be drafted very highly and even if they are drafted at all ...they won't last long if they can't hit a curve....

Actually no. The modern era of MLB is batting .240-.255 with 34 HRs and 100+ RBIs.

I don't believe him. The first 6 in their order played last year. We also have 6 in the order thst played a lot last year. Imagine be a guy like Hines who was a high rated recruit who will leave after playing 3 years on the second worst collection of State players since Polka last year and Cohen's 1st two years. That tells me he isn't a leader. Alford was an alpha and probably could have been the leader if Lemonis had let him play through his troubles like he has these guys!

Nice win. Only concerns are not scoring runs when we have a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs and Ligon. He has good stuff but he looks mental right now. He doesn’t trust his stuff.

This time last year this game would've got away from us and wound up like 12-5, our pitching would've thrown gas on the fire. Pitching is night and day different!

Good point. USM is down a little but nice to have a pen that can pound the zone. Caveat that it was a big zone. But we have 8-10 guys that have shown promise.

What? State won? The dickens you say. Weeelll doggies! Time to break out the champagne. The Dogs are headed to Omaha and Lemonis is getting a 4 year extension!

That was 2 evenly matched teams playing tonight and State had the better pitching for sure. Also of note, State batters struck out 12 times. You know how many hits State batters got with 2 strikes? Zero. Ze-ro.

5 runs on 7 hits was enough tonight because State mid-week pitching was better then USM mid-week pitching from the 2nd inning on. Was it a good win? It could very well be by the end of the season. Let's see what it means once State gets into SEC play.

We spotted them four runs and won the game. If we start Siary we probably shut them out. Our pitching was the difference tonight. And we had Dakota Jordan.

Glad they battled and pulled it out. Didn’t get to watch it. Good job pitching after the starter. Quite a few Ks it seems.
