Not a huge country music fan, but he was all American all of the time.

I've seen him in person a couple of times and he puts on a great show, whether you like country or not. He was a true patriot. Last I heard, he'd defeated cancer and was ready to start touring again. He must've been wrong.

He was actually still being treated, but in recent interviews he sounded optimistic. He must have taken a sudden turn for the worse. He will be greatly missed.

Heart breaking news. He was an icon, a true American patriot that loved his country and gave back to our troops. May he R.I.P.

I was too. I am not a ?Boot in Your Ass? kind of guy but he was all American. Loved the dude.

Other than that one line of that one song, loved his music. I am glad he said it at the time, as a very large percentage of the country was ready to 17 someone up over 9-11, including me. It just isn?t how I see the US?s greatest ideals. Either way, it summed up a very strong emotion in the days and months following 9/11.

He had a bunch of bangers though. Just really fun songs that were well written. Been listening to a Toby mix all day.

My favorite of his is "I Love This Bar". It's crazy because I was blasting the song, just yesterday, in my exercise room from an old CD mix I burned sometime in early 2004 and telling my friend who had dropped by how much I remember liking the video when it first came out. Then first thing this morning I look at the internet and I see this sad news.

Yes. And it's very cool knowing he wrote that song after a conversation with Clint Eastwood. Wrote it for Clint's movie "The Mule".
