Who is this bad news for? Complete degenerates that can't control themselves? Pretty much all of them are already broke, or on their way. The rest of the population falls mainly in the categories of supporting this or not caring.

Bad news for casinos. Much easier to bet from your living room.

ETA... not necessarily. Casinos need to have their apps with promotions ready to drop day 1

Since I am not a gambler ... who cares?

Can't wait. The State was losing out on a ton of money as offshore online gambling sites are being used by many in state. I think technically illegal, but there is no enforcement.

Casinos are for it. They already have the apps, they are just geofenced where you have to be on property to bet. Now they will be geofenced where you can bet from anywhere in the state.
I don't bet (other than being in an office pool), but that what I'm told by people in the industry.

The are not going to allow any sports betting except on apps tied to a brick and mortar casino in the state.

The only fight now is going to be over who gets the tax money. With on-premises gambling, the tax revenue is split between the state and the local gov't where the casino is. I would assume for off premises betting, local governments outside the three coastal counties are going to fight like hell to get a cut of the tax money. And in fairness they probably should, because it's probably going to suck some money out of the local economy that they otherwise would have gotten a share of sales tax on.

If you owned a retail/consumer business anywhere near a casino when they were first built you who know more about this subject than most. Gambling sucks a ton of consumer money out of a local economy. Now I'm all for gambling but as far as the state is concerned it's a give and take situation. I.E. it ain't all gravy.

Fan duel, Draftkings, etc., are just going to partner with the smaller casinos that don't have much of an online presence, like the ones in Natchez, Greenville, etc.
