Need 6-1 or 5-2 at worst. We will probably be 3-4. Until we prove we can win a road game I will fade us on the road.

I say 5-2, which puts us at 8-7 going into March. I think that's pretty good, but I'm sure most here disagree bc we made a final 4 28 years ago.

3 maybe 4 wins. Not going to be enough unless we make a run in the SEC tournament.

Maybe. What are the 4 wins vs the 3 losses? I don't think it will happen, but our fans are always cutting in line to call a fail for state

msstate7

That's not why I would disagree. Like I've said, hadn't watched much but when I do, it's not usually what I consider really good hoops. Didn't watch AU and TN tho.

I'm looking at standings too. We play Bama, Mizzou, and LSU at their place. Just cause of that I was betting we lose all 3 cause we can't play on the road. But now I'm looking at it and Mizzou 2nd in the East. Bama leads West and LSU is 3rd.

At home: KY not great but we tend to choke against them. GA leads the East. OM is 2nd in West.

That doesn't look like an easy schedule to me. Odds are very much against your prediction IMO.

But then ... We do have a top 3 big man in the country. Not sure who he is but we have him ****

I don't look at histories when assessing sports. I do look at intangibles I think I have a feel for tho.

BPI...
Loss at bama
State 77.8% fav vs Georgia
State 64% fav at mizzou
State 87.6% fav vs ark
State 76.1% fav vs OM
State 55.3% fav at lsu
State 58% fav vs Kentucky

BPI isn't biased against us like our fans. Obviously this doesn't mean we will win all these games, but BPI is pretty good. It called tonight's game basically 50/50

We will lose one of Mizzou and LSU and it is not out of the realm of possibility that we lose both. Until we show that we can win a road game it is a safe bet that we will lose them.

I think we win 9 SEC games. Most likely 5-2 in February and 1-2 in March but possibly 4-3 in February and 2-1 in March.
5-2 in Feb and 2-1 in March is about the best we can expect.

I always chuckle when people use percentage to say a politician won by 8 points in a two person race. If the mean is 50 and the winner got 54, they didn't win by 8, they won by 4% plus 1 vote. But math is math so everybody clap -Footloose!

And I guess Ole Miss won the coin toss then? Someone has to win or lose. BPI had us favored by 0.4. We lost. The whole point of my post is don't trust ESPN's BPI to judge how we should or shouldn't finish. As I stated earlier, until we win a conference road game I'm not counting anything as a sure thing.

I am taking this season game by game. The way this season has played out has been strange in the SEC overall. UK losing at home to UF after winning @UF was strange. The SEC very well could get 9 teams in the tournament assuming State, UF, and aTm can get to around .500 in the league. UT, Bama, Auburn, UK, Ole Miss and USCe are pretty solid barring a complete collapse

Man, using a metric that calls a game 50/50 to disapprove it when the game is decided in the last possession makes you one tough critic .

Yea they are generally pretty decent, but last year I believe they had Rutgers about that same percentage and Rutgers didn’t make it. We just have such a tough schedule because we have to play most of the top teams twice. Vandy, Mizzou, LSU, UGA and Ark are the 5 bottom teams and we only play all of them once. Hopefully the committee looks at this if we end up 8-10 while another team is 10-8 or so that played most of those teams twice. It’s just so hard to tell what the committee would do. It would be nice to upset Bama Saturday because that would pretty much lock us in

I don?t trust this team in any game. They are a rollercoaster mentally. They could win every game left on the schedule or lose them all. Neither would surprise me.

If we cannot beat this Mizzou team then we do not deserve to go the tournament. They are absolutely putrid. Our season SHOULD come down to the two game stretch of @LSU and UK at home. 2-0 and we are in no matter what. 1-1 and I will have to see what happened the previous 5 games. 0-2 and we will not have to worry about hearing our name called on Selection Sunday.

Goldendawg

This team is somewhat like last year's football team (minus the clown show coaching). Many of the basketball players came back for their 5th or 6th year in both sports a year older but not a year better. Talent wise in both sports a couple may make NFL as non drafted free agents, but there are no basketball players even close to the NBA developmental league. Except for the addition of Hubbard, this is still last year's starters and team. They are what they are. Next year will also see if we can evaluate and build fast through the portal. South Carolina and other teams show it can be done.

Missouri has a bad record, but they keep a lot of games close. They're not as bad as their record, imo. The ESPN metric gives them a 36% chance to beat us. I saw it was an away game, and slapped an "L" on there. I was tempted to do the same for LSU. Call them both toss-ups. But, yeah, you're right. We really better win that one. 4-1 in the next 5 would be huge.
