wow...exciting..... rice....

What kind of match-up is Rice? I'll be there, but why does an SEC Bowl have a tie-in against this shit?

As noted, it will be SEC/Big 12 next year.

Honestly, I don't have a real big problem with it. We're usually sending a 6-6 team, and when our 6-6 team beats the 10 win conference champion from a mid major- it makes a statement.

And you are right- it doesn't look good on a t-shirt. But BACK to the scheduling feud again- if we have a manageable schedule and not play Oklahoma State- we're probably in the Music City playing Georgia Tech this year. Of course, it doesn't always work out like that- see last year when we played Northwestern, but in the Gator Bowl. But you definitely increase the odds of playing a Michigan in a bowl by playing a manageable schedule.

And I've been accused on here of being "scared" to play really good people- but the fact of the matter is I don't mind playing a tough opponent. I just prefer to do it in a bowl to maximize national exposure and to make sure we get a fairly even match-up. In other words- not a 6-6 MSU team vs. a 10 win West Virginia team.

Rice is 10-3, Conference USA Champions

Lost 52-31 to Texas A&M, 31-26 to Houston and 28-16 to North Texas

Needed OT to beat UAB, but dominated Marshall in C-USA Championship

Decent defense, average offense. 17th in the country in rushing.

I would much rather play a 10-win conference champ than Pitt or a similar team, even if the conference champ isn't as good a team.
