Wasn't taking a shot at Steve so much as he was the toxic culture created on that board by Gene and his disciples. Steve gets some of that blame, but it's mostly Gene. 247 is better than it used to be, but some of the "Poor Ole's" still remain.

90% of beat writers on the fan sites were people who were not very popular in high school, college, etc. and now that they have a tad bit of credibility and popularity and so they think they are a hell of a lot cooler than they are. Some are better than others. Faulk is not all that bad, but guys like Paul Jones are the worst types. They believe that what they say is second only to the gospel and if you criticize them then you are the problem, not anything they have done.

My only issue is that I think he is too chummy with some of the recruits. I think they are telling him what he wants to hear and he is treating it as gospel and some kind of inside scoop. He is going to have to learn to be a journalist and I do not think he knows how to do that just yet.

It seems to me like Paul changed after the merger. It was almost like he was going out of his way to prove that the board wouldn't be overly censored and that criticism was allowed. However there were definitely times where he crossed the line between average message board poster and site moderator.

In an odd way- it was almost like censorship in a way because if you didn't agree with the "in" crowd or PNut it was like you couldn't have a different opinion without it being criticized very heavily.
