Faint bowl hopes update
4 relevant games today:
5-6 TCU @ 9-2 Oklahoma (11am)
9-2 Iowa @ 5-6 Nebraska (11am)
10-1 Toledo @ 5-6 Central Michigan (11am)
5-6 Utah State @ 4-7 New Mexico (2:30)
Our chances aren't looking good, as we'll need a few upsets of 5-6 teams to make it in. TCU, Nebraska, or Central Michigan winning today would be a disaster. New Mexico pulling out the win would be great for us.

Outside the COVID years, no 5-7 has ever turned down a bowl opportunity. Of course you play and get extra practice and game reps if you can.

No person who has ever buckled a chin strap would ever say they don't want to play another game.

If our new coach could come in and install a portion of his system for the bowl game I would be for it. Early Spring practice. But to just go to a dip shit lower tier bowl to do all the same crap we have been doing.....no thanks. Let's just put a tombstone on the season.

Yep, need a 1-3 from the 5-6ers today. 0-4 would have it looking good for us. 2-2 probably a 30% chance we get in, 3-1 probably 15% chance, and 4-0 probably less than 5%.

Oklahoma, Iowa, Toledo should win. I don't think NM can beat U St.

We would get boatraced trying to play with a new system and kill any positive offseason momentum. Nooooobody is going to risk that. New guy will be recruiting and building a staff during that time, as he should.

Wrong way to look at it. Who cares if we lose. Gives you an extra spring practice to install your system with young guys and see if Parson shows promise in the system (otherwise you need temporal qb)

Iowa is an underdog.
I hope those no offense dudes win a 7-3 game!

Yeah, I saw that after I wrote this. Surely Iowa can take care of business.

Exactly.

***Please, can't we get just one more opportunity to try the Mike Wright QB experiment -- it's bound to work THIS time in a crappy bowl game.***

Im not telling you whether its the right or wrong way to look at it. Im telling you no coach is going to do that.
You think he'd risk the first impression of his tenure being some half-assed attempt at bowl preparation, and kill all the off-season excitement before he even gets started? Nope. Not gonna happen.

Does this factor in James Madison?

As a coach and a player, you play the game. As a fan, don't want to see any more of what we witnessed last night.
