They can check you records on them bc of NCAA stuff, therefore, the coach can redact personal calls. But there would be no phone to turn to turn back in.

A prudent person would just get their own phone with unlimited use. They don't cost that much now, especially if you're in the upper-six or seven figure salary level. Just about every teenager has a phone supplied by their parents, and very few of them make that sort of money.
