"In Harm's Way". I would say "The Longest Day" but that had such a large cast that I'm not sure if its considered a John Wayne movie.

I really am not a big fan of Wayne's WWII moves. Great cowboy, but not as good as a soldier. The Longest Day is terrific, and an all time favorite. Lee Marvin was a much better soldier than Wayne - give me The Dirty Dozen over any Wayne WWII movie.

Lee Marvin rocked in ww2 movies. Anybody ever seen The Big Red One? Is that the title ?

Also, one of the the best war movies you'll ever see is actually a WW1 movie. The Lost Batallion starring Ricky Schroeder.

Lee Marvin was a marine PFC who was wounded on Guam. He is buried at Arlington with just a simple white marker. Forgot about "In Harms Way".

Favorite line from the Big Red One: "How do you Flush Out a Sniper? Send a guy up to see if he gets shot. But since this is a John Wayne Thread pick your favorite one.

I have to agree with you on this. Lee Marvin was an actual war vet, but in John Wayne's defense, he did all he could to try military service. He was not accepted to Annapolis and tried to enlist during WWII but he was too old and the movie studios wouldn't let him. He did a ton of USO tours though.

My favorite WWII movie: The Great Escape
