Tony Brown at East Central
Any idea on what our staff thinks about this guy?
He has 92 tds in two years. Averages 10 yards a carry. And he sat out the second half of almost every game this year. 5-9 185lb RB? Bit short, but at that height and 185, thats pretty good.
He does not have a single D1 offer, just wondering what the situation is?
This may be an issue of numbers being an issue, but 92 tds is strong regardless.

Tony worked for me the last two summers, great kid. If he's 5'9" 185 I'm 6"10" 340 , I'm not. He just not big enough to take the beating in the SEC.

Assuming we agree that D1 staffs are trying to win games, I think you just answered your own question

maybe merlins will offer him...he has all the measurements don looks for to run up the gut against sec d-lines

That tells me that maybe we should be looking at their o-linemen.
-
His 247 profile says 5'7.5" 175lbs, not rated. Probably a great kid though!
-
Yeah, elite speed would help. Julian Edelman doesn't have elite speed though. Can this guy become a kid that is literally impossible to cover coming from the slot. I don't know.
-
He'd never be an every down back, but he could be successful in certain situations. Nobody can tackle him. He could be a return specialist and a situational back. 5 touches a game or so. At least invite him to walk on or something.

Edelman ain?t 5?7? either
He should go JUCO and if he shows out there, then he will get offers
No shame in that, plenty of guys do that

We already have their TE/ Cumbest.

We're probably going to offer a lineman at EC. They've got one that we're talking to.

And he isnt even very good. He is the polar opposite of Brown. Has the measureables, but can't block, run good routes, or catch. Brown has speed, vision, and balance but not the desirable measurables.
The EC OL is pretty good, but they are not the reason for Brown's success. He consistently finds small holes, cuts back, breaks tackles, makes guys miss, and falls forward when being tackled. He gets a lot of yards after contact.

And almost all of you cursed out Brandon Holloway for 4 years
Comparing Brown to Demps is ridiculous
He has no D1 offers tells you a lot
Our numbers are tight
We already have a guy in this class for this role L. Webb
Need I go on ......

Ok you convinced me. Now whos scholly do we pull In order to sign this guy?
Everyone wants to be a beast...until its time to do what beasts do.

I don't care to convince anyone. And obviously don't think I can convince our staff to offer him. Just having a conversation. Sorry I have offended people by having a different opinion. A lot of MS kids have slipped through the cracks. Rice, McNair, Sweetness....this kid may never amount to a whole lot, but I happen to think he is good enough to play somewhere.

Got to be more to the story if he doesn?t have a single D1 offer. You?re telling me Troy, ULL, South Alabama can?t find a spot for a guy with 92 scores in 2 years?
-
If we aren't at 85 next year, there's no downside to giving him a scholarship and see what happens. Just don't expect much.
