Something that has been bugging me...
Sorry for the long post. I enjoy listening to podcasts, especially the Boneyard, The B&B Show, Keep It 100. I also like listening the the rebel's podcast, mainly because I like to hear their justifications of what is happening to their programs. I listen to Neal McCready quite a bit. It always bugs me how he claims that the NCAA is the only one leaking info about the investigation and that they are doing this to purposefully harm Ole Miss in some sort of vengeful, personal way. He has been quite adamant that Ole Miss has not leaked any info, that that is part of their "exemplary cooperation." So I decided to do a little research. Turns out that Ole Miss has leaked quite a bit. I thought I would include all of the "Ole Miss friendly" news stories here. Most of these have been proven false after the fact. Mod, feel free to add to this list. I am sure I have missed several.
The infamous "this is a good thing" article.
http://gridironnow.com/why-ncaa-noti...-for-ole-miss/
A "sources tell us this has very little to do with football" article by Chris Low.
http://www.espn.com/college-football...ee-sports-ncaa
Another "only 5 of 32 allegations are current staff related". Also says only secondary violations for current staff.
http://www.espn.com/college-football...ee-sports-ncaa
Parrish Alford "opportunity fund" article.
http://djournal.com/sports/parrish-a...-in-paperwork/
Another article that alludes to the "opportunity fund."
http://www.scout.com/story/1665182-d...unsil-ole-miss
Ross Bjork claiming the investigation is over.
http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/ole...ic-department/
There is also statement from Deontay Anderson that I can't find now. But it was reported that Hugh Freeze assured him that the NOA was not a big deal that it would have little to no impact on the program or his job security.
All of these are articles that are citing "sources" from Ole Miss that tried to down play the magnitude of the allegations, or just flat out falsify the information, in order to make Ole Miss look good. So...Ole Miss fans, and you too Neal (because I know that you are Not A Fan) when you hear people complaining about the NCAA leaks, just remember that YOUR institution has been behind plenty of leaks too.

I listen to them for the same reason many read NAFOOM. For entertainment purposes only.

No

Great post. Very good points. You could make an argument that the positive spin they put out caused some of the other side of the coin to leak. Again, great point. Never thought about it like that.

I listen to Neal's podcast regularly. You don't have to apologize for anything

"I talked to Coach Freeze about [potential violations]," Anderson said, adding that "he said it was about things that had happened in the past before he got to Ole Miss. I knew he would be honest with me. When I first heard it, it didn?t shake me up."

I'd read their egg bowl game thread if they had one but they are too busy posting about beautiful campus's and Martha's Vineyard to organize a somewhat functional game thread with a proper melt. There are some on this board that read nafoom quite often though so don't think you're alone. Oh and Nafoom still looks like 2006 SPS in format so it's an eyesore and headache for me to try to navigate through that shit.

In an interview with Manvel High School (Texas) running back D’Vaughn Pennamon, posted on Feb. 1 on RecruitingNewsGuru.com, Pennamon said that during a visit to Oxford the weekend before Feb. 3, the Ole Miss staff addressed the violations stating, “There were five football violations but the violations happened before Coach Freeze was there.”
The other potential badly misleading case presented by the program and the coaching staff, Freeze supposedly told the recruits, “(the) violations will not affect our class.”

Wow! I didn't know he/they lied to Pennamon too!

RT @CoachHughFreeze: If you have facts about a violation, email compliance@olemiss.edu. If not, please don't slander the young men.
I must confess too that I peruse Nafoom for laughs from time to time...

I honestly don't because it irritates me to no end to read or hear what that delusional fanbase thinks.

There were actually three recruits in that class who were lied to. I can't remember the third ones name, but there was a thread on it somewhere around last march. I'm pretty sure he tweeted smn along the lines of "coach will lie right to your face" and linked the release of the noa. If I get time later I'll go try to find the thread. I know I posted in it and somebody else posted the third guy's name.

Great post and when the allegations turn into hard findings and the show causes are handed out and the bowl ban begins, we need to remind everyone of these dumbass authors that toted Ole Miss's bucket of water for them that they were either duped or they themselves lied.
Let's not forget that Elitedawgs was reporting the investigation a year or so before the clarion ledger ever even acknowledged it. They have a lot of friendly press for such an irrelevant institution. It's actually impressive.

I have started listening to "The Boneyard" recently - and it is good. Very interesting and Steve gives the right amount of material. Got some room for improvement on the production side of things, but not bad for a local broadcast. I recommend fellow Dawg fans to subscribe to the podcast, if they are not already doing so.
