I'm sure D1Baseball will have Ole Miss over MSU because of Kendall Rogers running it.

This pretty much confirms what many of us have been saying for a couple of years now- on paper, the talent we're bringing in for 2015 and forward is on a different level than what we've previously signed.

    ETA: Rankings from recent past-

    2011- Outside of T25
2012- Outside of T25 (Arguably Cohen's worst class)
    2013- #15
    2014- Outside of T25

    2015- #3
2016- #16 (it's a small class right now and the average rating is much better than 16)

No...only those who are coming to campus.

    Edit: It does....my bad, guys.

Edit 2: PG just tweeted that all that signed are off the list. But Fenter is on there sooooo

Not sure why PG does that. Also of note it doesn't include any JUCO signees, so it's relatively inaccurate anyway.

I will say that even with our losses, we still had a top 10 class.

Okay...I see what they did. This was only a HS recruit ranking and while Fenter and the MLB signees are on the list of commits, their scores were not used to calculate the rankings.

I noticed you left off the 2010 class, who I think was pretty highly ranked. And guess what, add 3 years to that and presto, we are playing for the national championship.

Now, add 3 years to 2013 and......

Need to follow it up with another in order to really get over that hump, and it appears that we are. This has been MSU's problem in baseball time and time again throughout history....we'd put together a good recruiting class, they'd develop 3 years later and we'd make the CWS, but we never had the CONTINUITY needed to get up there and win the thing. It's not rocket science, in order to win it, you have to put yourself in position to win over and over and over again. Not just once every 5 years.

I just went back to 2011 because that was the last year of PG rankings I could find.

But yes I agree that Cohen's first couple of classes were much better than his last few- and these 2015 and 2016 groups are his best yet on paper.

I think 2016 will end up having about the same quality of players as 2015, but we will sign fewer which will hurt our final ranking.

The 10 we have committed for 2016 right now are outstanding, and looking forward to 2017 is much of the same.

I agree- going back to Polk we have been too "cyclic", which I know is not a word but it describes what we have been doing.

Year 1- Young team of freshmen, miss regionals.
Year 2- Fairly young team of sophomores make a regional.
Year 3- Veteran team that has some talent- make Omaha
Year 4- Veteran team with some seniors but cream of the crop talent is gone via draft- make a regional.

    Rinse, repeat.

Walker Robbins and Riley Self have done well in the showcases this year also. And I think Will Brooks is underrated because he has had to wait his turn at MC.

And then we have two UA All-Americans and a guy that was on Team USA last year that are pitchers.
