    RPI is at 18

We are down to the last series! Need to win 2/3 IMO although a sweep of course would be even better. It's pretty cut and dried at this point. However many wins we get I don't see the SEC getting more than 6 host bids. The good news is we would be the sixth and based on the metrics I don't think much would change with that no matter how the weekend turns out because Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas A&M are way ahead. So the finals host spot is really probably between MSU and South Carolina. We're still ahead of them in RPI and SEC wins at this point. All good!

Alabama I do need to mention because they have a RPI of 11 however they also have 15 losses and lost the series head to head to us. They have Auburn this weekend and if we take care of business and Auburn is able to win a game or two Alabama could plummet. So go Butch Thompson! But I don't think it's going to matter much because I don't see the committee rewarding them over us. So even though we're 18 in RPI we're really kind of more like 17.

South Carolina- we need to pull for Tennessee whom they play on the road. They are sitting at 13-14 so a sweep would put them at 16-14. We do not want that to happen because it would vault their RPI ahead of ours and that would be with us taking care of business against Mizzou. Interestingly enough if South Carolina gets swept they would be 13-17 and that puts them on the bubble to even get in. If that happens you have to wonder if South Carolina doesn't fire Kingston and maybe comes after Lemonis?

LSU/Ole Miss- this doesn't really affect us other than who we will face in the first round of the SEC Tournament. BUT I do want to mention this series because they could implode each other's regional bubble and I think that's absolutely awesome and beautiful. Ole Miss is 27-25 after losing to USM tonight and there is a very real chance that they could have a losing season. I hope they win a game though which I think they will because then that would give LSU an 18th loss and if LSU wins the series then Ole Miss is looking at 18 losses as well.

    Other things to root for:

RPI 102 Houston to win against Oklahoma State in Houston.

RPI 52 Cincinnati to win against Oklahoma in Cincinnati

RPI 93 Cal State Northridge to win against Cal Santa Barbara at Cal State Northridge

RPI 54 Virginia Tech to win against Virginia in Charlottesville

RPI 169 Rice to win against East Carolina in Greenville, NC

So, as you can see many of the teams around us in RPI have opponents similar or worse in RPI than Mizzou. Plus the situation with Alabama and I feel good about our odds of hosting at the moment.

Win 2 of 3, it could go either way.

Sweep, we're pretty much a lock. Need to sweep.

If we win 2, the NCAA will make sure we host. We bring in way too many people, money, and attention when we get in compared to whoever is the current #16 team.

This ^^^ It’s times like this when our facilities and fanbase contribute to our chances of hosting.

If we put Powell in as DH, I think our chances will be better. Try him for one game and see how it goes. My 2 cents.

Makes no sense to DH Powell.

Just start him at catcher and keep the DH the way it is.

Part of it is that certain pitchers prefer certain catchers
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

If I was a pitcher, I?d prefer a catcher that drops bombs and gives me run support. But alas, a pitcher I am not.

And it's not like Long is a guaranteed backstop behind the plate. 8 passed balls for him on the season
