That was quick. Did we reach out to him?

It will be interesting to see how he does at Houston in the new Big 12. (16 teams).
I could be wrong but I suspect his ceiling will be a 8 win type coach and not much higher than that. I don't see him winning any championships at Houston unless he has a younger staff experienced in NIL & transfer portal & recruiting in the modern era.
He won't be able to out recruit the other new Big 12 teams & even the existing ones.

Yes, his daughter lives there.

He's easing into retiring in a few years and enjoying grandkids etc.

I'm glad we went a different route. We may suck but I'm a lot more excited

Good coach but IMO we would be guaranteeing ourselves that we would be looking for another coach in 5 years.

Seeing how the average tenure of an FBS football coach is 3.7 years, we will most likely be looking for another coach in 5 years no matter who we hired.

You don't have to be "young" to be experienced or good with the NIL or transfer portal. You just have to accept that it's part of the game now (unfortunately). There's something to be said for guys that are up and comers with something to prove, but Saban would win anywhere he went.
There's someone in my head but its not me.

Sounds like a great retirement plan for him.
