Monday Morning Thoughts-Go Heavy Edition

A little late with these as I got tied up and the day just got away from me yesterday.

1. Good to get a win. It was ugly at times, but we put our foot on their throat when we had to.

2. Davis and Pittman may be our best two backs moving forward. Marks is just not 100 percent and Pittman and Davis ran with authority on Saturday.

3. Concerning that we still have receivers running the wrong routes in Game 11. We had multiple plays on Saturday where receivers ran into each other or were running the wrong route. That just cannot happen. And it has continually happened throughout the year.

4. The Drops. We had at least 6 drops on Saturday and maybe more. And a few of the drops were not contested. The receiver just dropped the pass.

5. Our secondary is BAD.

6. We finally figured out on Saturday about midway through the second quarter to just send the house and get to the QB before they can throw it. This may need to be the plan Thursday night.

7. Will is still not 100 percent and he will not be Thursday night. That worries me with how bad our line is because Golding is going to blitz heavy early to rattle him if I had to guess.

8. Their line is not in great shape either. We need to rattle Dart and force some bad throws because he gets locked on a target sometimes and will force passes into windows that will force mistakes.

9. Thursday night is probably still going to be bad. Just a fair warning on that.

10. I need Greg Knox to lead us out onto the field on an ATV Thursday night with the Stone Cold theme playing.

I would love for us to win this game and I've seen a lot of weird things happen in Egg Bowls over my 58 years. That being said I don't see us winning and would like to see us be competitive and keep it close. om ol is not good and if we can stop the run and keep dart in the pocket and hit him we have a slim chance(provided the offense can do something). Dart has a lot of Manziel in him and makes his best plays moving around. Our rush CANNOT run upfield past him. They have to stay even and in front of him because when he gets outside the pocket he's heck, because he can run well and throw on the the run. Will needs to be sharp and we HAVE to catch the football. We could've put up over 50 saturday if we would've caught the football. Pittman and Davis are a tremendous combination. Thunder and Lightning. I will say some of the kids Ive talked to are fired up to play this game and I look for some chippiness and for us to play hard. That being said I don't expect a win but I expect us to play hard and be competitive. GTHOM!

This year, when we have gotten a pass rush, the containment wasn't there or the guys allowed the Olinemen to just lead them right on by the QB leaving the middle wide open. That cannot happen against Dart. Frankly to me, he is the worst type of QB to run a 3-3-5 against especially when the 5 are awful at covering or closing. Should at least be a base 4-3-4 and take our chances, keeping our fast LB with eyes on no one but Dart and/or Judkins. If none of the LBs are fast enough, move a 200 lb. Safety up to LB.

This. You have to make dart a pocket passer because he will get antsy in the pocket and throw off his back foot and his ball sails. If we let him consistently break contain and get outside the pocket he'll destroy us.

7. QB runs have been the kryptonite for them since the Relf days. Too bad I can throw off-hand better than Wright. Give Parson a shot if we can't protect Will?

It would be among the funniest and most enjoyable egg bowl wins if we can somehow pull it off, but yeah I'm not in any way expecting it to even be close really. If they turn it over a ton like Arizona it could happen though.
