Late Night After Thoughts
Defense:
-We are where we are due to coaching. Game planning on defense is just bad, but the over all issue are players not in position. That was evident when Preston came back in. That guy was meeting the run at the LOS. in 2 quaters had 3 solo tackles and 4 total.
-There are no answers for what we see. The USCe did a great job watching the LSU film and duplicated what they did. We, on the other hand made few adjustments.
- If it's a talent issue, it is on Arnett. He was the DC and the one recruiting them.
Offense:
-I stopped counting in the first half the amount of times our OL, specifically the OTs were beat. The play calling masked that weakness a lot tonight. Those AR concepts that we ran is why we were even in that game. Notice how much better they blocked in it. Nobody is playing rush 3 drop 8, so we are taking the Top off. We need to do more of that.
-At the end, we called plays that WRs were 1000% confused on what route they were running. 2 plays in a row, it was Robinson. The "Over Throw" was not an over throw. It was him taking the wrong route. He then did not run his route and Tulu crawled his ass! Suggestion. Remove all but 2 of those play designs and work on them if you are dead set on running them. Just 2.
-Run game... holy cow. What happened! 23 carries for a total of 32 yards.
- Protection. While it was better tonight, that was a product of the plays that the OL can execute. However, we still had 4 sacks... and that keeps our average of about 1 sack for every 10 passing attempts. That's unacceptable.
