I went to urologist my PSA was over 8. Biopsy confirmed cancer. Stage 3 and very close to being Stage 4. Today I'm cancer free but still have blood tests every 6 months.

Y'all get everything checked!! Stuff is trying to kill you!
Same here then when I went to the VA the doc there stopped it. If you're over 40 quit the T shots.

40/ You can get the shit sticks, cologuard etc, and send them in or get your Doc to give you one.

My doctor said 45 to me yesterday when I was asking about if my kids needed to start screening earlier than normal.

Yes. The finger is no fun. A simple blood test that most any Dr./clinic can perform. Check your PSA numbers which tells you if your prostate is range for more testing or just benign enlargement. If your PSA numbers are high your Dr./clinic should schedule you to see a urologist for further evaluation. Don?t screw around with it. I?ve lost two friends to prostate cancer. They kept putting off dealing with it and their cancerous prostate metastasized or spread to other areas and that?s what killed them.

Prostate cancer feeds on testosterone. If fuels the cancer. If you don't have prostate cancer, testosterone therapy is fine. But is it worth the risk??

Average risk, no family history: get a colonoscopy at 45.

Prostate check/PSA without family history: typically not until your 50s.

Testosterone injections/replacement is 95% of the time a complete scam, but they know how to hit you down low with advertisement. Would highly recommend against it for a number of reasons, one of which is increased risk of prostate cancer.

I am assuming you have some facts to back up the 95% scam? Or I guess I am in the 5%?

I can't speak for your specific situation, but there is a ton of information regarding the huge amount of inappropriate prescribing due to direct to consumer advertising in the last 15 years. The expert guidelines say only patients that have true symptoms due to low T and a low T level on THREE separate occasions measured between 8AM and 10AM should be considered for replacement. That almost never happens in even responsible practices. Places branded as "low T centers" are prescribing without truly low levels and pumping the level up to well above the recommended range. A lot of times without regards to other health issues the patient may have that can be made worse. Its really bad medicine at most of those places. Also younger patients that are truly low really need a more expanded work up into why instead of just being given T. Also rarely happens in practice.

95% was just a random number admittedly, but there is a ton of scam out there

A buddy of mine had been on "hormone replacement therapy" for a few years. He's extremely healthy and works out religiously. He had a major stroke and they are blaming the injections.

I was definitely going to start taking the injections until I was diagnosed with cancer. Then I learned a ton about testosterone and prostate cancer.

I had a follow up the next year where a couple of small ones were found and today I had my third one where a couple of very small ones were found and removed. I say that to say this...

If you're having any symptoms that you know aren't right or are above 45 years old get this done. Colon cancer kills a lot of people every year, and most, if not all, of it could be avoided or treated early with full recovery with this 20 minute test. I was almost a statistic, but I was scared enough to have the test and glad I did. And truth be told the test is nothing to be scared of. You sleep through the entire thing. The worst part is the super colon blow prep you have to do. That poor motel toilet will never be the same. Not sure how I'll end up meeting my Maker. It may be driving into another tornado and it end up being one I can't drive out of, but I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure it isn't colon cancer. I hope everybody here does the same.
I had nearly the exact same thing happen over a five or six year period. I changed my diet to get more fiber in it and now I don't get polyps anymore. Took about ten years to see the difference, so people need to be patient. Well worth it in the long run though.
