    OT: Honeymoon Trip?

Yes ED's I will be getting married in a little less than a year. My question is, Has anyone been to like a Sandals or another All-Inclusive Resort? We want to stay away from Mexico. So maybe the ones in Jamaica or Bahamas. Can you include price for stay, airfare, excursions...and overall experience. Thanks in advance.

By the way. I won't say what team she roots for, but hopefully we survive this weekend being together lol. HAIL STATE!!

I stayed at Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica back in 1996. It was great back then for a honeymoon.

Wasn't all inclusive but we did the Reach Resort in Key West. We had a blast and never had to fool with customs or any sketchy foreign situations. Jet skis, sunset cruises, scuba diving, great food, and Duval is a party every night... May not be "tropical" enough for some but it gets my stamp of approval.

After looking into the whole all-inclusive thing, I decided I'd rather try something else.

Me and my wife went to St. Croix (USVI) last year for the honeymoon, and rented a house there for a reasonable price. Our wedding was October, which is the "off-season" in the Caribbean, so flights and the house weren't too bad considering what you're getting ($1500 for the place, about $1100 for the flights). The house was private with its own pool and a semi-private beach with only 5 other houses (of which all were empty, because it was the off-season). The island was great too, not too touristy like St. Thomas and also big enough that there was plenty to explore (took about an hour to drive across). Plus, it's still part of the US, which makes travel way easier.

If your looking for a place to go and never leave the room, I'd recommend an all-inclusive. My wife and I are more of the adventurous types, so we did this style and spent afternoons exploring the jungles/beaches/mountains/cities on the island. There are also several all inclusive places on the Island that we might go back too one day, especially when kiddos come into the picture (Divi, Buccaneer, and Google probably knows a few others). The Divi was pretty tight and had its own casino (the only one is USVI) and it was walking distance from our house.

Overall, St. Croix was badass. I've been to Jamaica, St. Thomas, and St. Marteen before, and St. Croix was definitely the coolest/most unique island I've been too, mainly because of its size (not too big, not too small). Honestly, I'd never heard of it before until I started researching lower-cost honeymoon spots - but it was awesome.

And by the way, I have no idea why St. Croix isn't a more popular place. It literally blows my mind.

It's the biggest US owned island in the world that you've never heard of before.

I know you said you wanted to stay away from Mexico and I understand why ... but I have made a couple trips to Cabo San Lucas and it has become my favorite ... it's pretty safe there and they cater to Americans because they are the life blood of the area ... they accept American dollars, prices are amazingly affordable, several things to do - bull fights, zip-lines, Baha atv riding, casino, and incredible Marlin fishing .... food is great & locals are very friendly
the only problem is getting there - most flights will run you $ 1,000 - $ 1,200 ....... I'm sure there are "all-inclusive" type resorts but there is really no need to go all inclusive as the prices there are very decent - just a thought

Sandals Antigua was awesome. all inclusive, very easy trip. Hopped from Miami to PR, to Antigua.

If you go, take the catamaran tour out to snake island. jump the boat about 500 yards out and snorkel in. the island has a snake on it ... can be seen everywhere... that can't be found in any other place in the world. the island is only a few hundred yards long and wide. You can hike to the top and look back in the carribbean and see crystal clear blue water and islands spotted everywhere. If you turn the other direction, it's nothing but deep dark blue. you're actually standing on the continental divide and you feel like you're at the edge of the world. one of the most amazing natural places I've ever been to.
