Sunday Morning QB...
... "I don't know 17'n shit edition". Or maybe it'll be "LSU was decimated" edition. Or some other lame ass excuse.
Where is it??!!??

I’m just waiting on him to own up to bashing our defense and saying it would be horrible....
Not gonna hold my breath though. He won’t ever admit it. He’s always right in his mind.

I was on record as seriously questioning our defense due to depth (covid and injury worries), talent, new scheme, etc. I will admit they certainly played better than I expected. I was most impressed with the effort and the coaching on the defensive side. I agreed with coach34 that we would allow more than 30 ppg. LSU scored 34.
If the D continues to work and hustle like they did, good things are ahead. They are going to take some lumps at times, and I still think our depth is thin. But no defense is worth a crap giving 75% effort, and I thought we gave 100% effort. I still think our opposition will average more than 30 ppg.

27*. Costello threw a pick 6.

Chizik and Harper gave our D a lot love last night. It's not going to be a bad D.

Well they did get a pick six and we had 4 turnovers. We were losing the field position battle all game. Our defensive numbers weren't great but you watch that game and they played well. I was very surprised and wrong about them. I think we kind of wrote off some guys like Kobe and Spencer making any sort of jump this deep into their career or Wheat and Davis doing anything right off the bat. If these guys are all the sudden impact players, we look way different on D.

We gave up 34 points, but the offense turned it over 4 times, including a pck 6.
I think the defense played great. I particularly was impressed with the goal line stand. On third down from inside the two, twice LSU decided they could not run it into the endzone and passed. Once it worked, the other time is did not.
The D is not getting enough credit because the offense's numbers are so gaudy.

Score really should have been more like 54-27. We made a LOT of mistakes that kept them in the game.

I thought the defense played great. I based my stance about us allowing more than 30 ppg on some of the things you mentioned. When you throw the ball a lot on O, pick 6's happen, sacks with fumbles happen, our O scoring quick happens. Also we might put up 60 on some team and the opposition scores a lot trying to keep up. Defenses don't operate in a vacuum. I think a Mike Leach offense hurts the defense a little (although we don't run tempo on O like many teams do now).
Our defense was impressive. I was VERY pleased. I also think LSU has many offensive problems they are trying to figure out. It's a long season, with lots of peaks and valleys. Time will tell. But I was very encouraged by our defensive effort and coaching. I still think our opponents will average at least 30 ppg.

I was impressed by our defense. We are going to be hard to scheme against this year because both our offense and defense are unique.
-
We had SEVEN sacks against LSU! The defense did what they were supposed to do and held our opponents to less points than we scored. I'm very pleased with the way our whole team responded yesterday.
-
Shit we spotted them their last 10 points in the 4th with the int and fumble. The D played great tho. Hell you can add the pick 6 in and say we spotted them 17.

Exactly this^

With the exception of #13 Pruitt, there was focus and composure start to stop. Many things were ready to go bad, all that was needed was a lack of focus and composure to ignite the usual Bulldog meltdown. With the exception of Pruitt, that did not happen.

That was Forbes, and he got the INT to end the game. It was a stupid decision, but he'll learn and get better from it.

Don?t forget the goal line stand at the 2 that included a sack back to the 8 yd line that resulted in a FG instead of 7. Pretty impressed to say the least.

Yes and a true freshman that played his tail off when needed

I thought he and the rest of the corners played really well. They were physical which is what we needed

That's right... and while you are correcting people, let's revisit your statements about not having a legit secondary, that was not "SEC ready".
And where is that "truth barer" Homedawg?? Not as much fun today, huh?
