I would still be shocked if Stewart shows up at State. But yes, he would be an absolute game-changer, so the fact that there is still even a chance at this point is huge. If we were to get him, that is the kind of thing that can vault you to a national title.

If Stewart pitches well anywhere this year, I'm gonna be pissed at AA.

Coach knows if he just gets him on campus he is more than likely going to bond over the fall with our guys and he's got him then. Our team is extremely close and if we can just get him here initially it's going to be really hard for him to want to go anywhere else.

Even if it's at State? Come on, man.
I love the Braves, but State will always take precedence. If Stewart kills it at State for the next 3 years, I will forever be grateful that AA drafted and didn't sign him.

I would think that would likely be in our favor as well. Having Ginn and Stewart for two seasons- assuming Ginn leaves after his sophomore year- gives us two guys that are legit front of the line SEC arms and that's what you need to win a National Championship. If they have success it could very well lead to other first round type talents committing and coming to MSU- like Vanderbilt and Florida. To me, it's worth the roll of the dice because I feel like if we can get him to campus our odds of him staying on the team are fairly high. Hopefully it works out for him like it did Casey Mize and Brady Singer.
I like Foxhall's answer to building velocity. It sounds like a very individualized approach.
I also like that we are bringing in a new S&C coach. Our fans have noted how "small" our players have looked. Some of that is perception- but I also think that some of it reality. I also have heard that our old S&C coach was possibly in part to blame for many of the Tommy John surgeries a few years ago because he and Wes Johnson weren't communicating like they needed to.
I don't think we'll miss Vansau very much- not with MacNamee, Mangum, and Rowdey coming back plus I would think Tanner Allen would start over him in the OF as well depending on how the infield shakes out. Personally I do wish that we could have kept Anderson and Ashcraft because they are talented players.
Also- Keegan James is looking good in the Cape. He'll have a say in the weekend rotation I would think.
My buddy that is a scout and he has been impressed with Keegan this summer. Said he's throwing the ball a lot better than he was just a couple of months ago.
Also, FWIW, I've been a little hesitant to go all in with Lemonis but I'm on the bus now. All in. Hail State!

I'll be happy if carter makes it state. I'll be mad at AA at the same time. Basketball, I like state more than anyone. Football, I like state more than anyone. Baseball, state is 2nd to the braves. College baseball just isn't that great of a sport with the best players going milb, scholarship limitations, umpiring is awful, and college baseball just isn't a national sport like basketball and football

You'd pull for the Braves over MSU in an exhibition game?

I love the Braves. I'm going to a game tomorrow night.
But MSU > Braves and it's really not close.

In an exhibition game, I'd pull for state. Love underdogs

It's just the college baseball sport in general is pretty boring at times. The crazy slow pace of play, bunting in the 1st inning, pass balls/wild pitches, etc... just doesn't come close to watching the braves (even when they suck). To each his own though, I just prefer mlb to college baseball... I prefer college football and basketball to pros though

In other news, Reid Humphreys was promoted to AA. Off that 2016 team, we have:
Dakota Hudson - SP - Majors
Zac Houston - RP - AAA
Austin Sexton - SP - AA
Jack Kruger - C - AA
Nate Lowe - 1B - AA
Jacob Robson - OF - AAA
Brent Rooker - OF - AA
That doesn't include the players who are at levels lower than AA. The fact that all of these guys are at the AA level or above in what is only their 2nd full season of pro baseball is a testament to them and to the talent on that 2016 Mississippi State baseball team. All of these players are doing well at their level as well, which means they all have a chance to at least get a shot at the majors.

To each his own I guess
Have you been to SunTrust park yet? Going for the first time tomorrow night. Kershaw is the probable pitcher, so I'm excited to see that even though it probably means a loss, lol

Even with the Braves taking priority for you, his impact on State would likely be far greater than the relatively small chance of him eventually having a big impact on the Braves MLB team.
But for me, all State sports come before anything else, at least those available to watch/follow.

The impact on each team is true. Good point. I'm just not happy with AA right now... losing 1st pick ever as brave, not upgrading flaherty, still hasn't gotten us a LH specialist (maybe little impatient here), and I think it's a dumb idea to not take a rental.

I'm going to Trustmark tonight for the Mississippi State night. I'm going to Sun Trust on the 17th to the Mississippi State night there.

What is Trustmark doing for their State night? I am kind of pumped about getting a maroon Braves hat with the M State logo on the side. Only way it could be better is if it had the baseball MS logo.
