    Rifle scope kwerstion

I?m looking at options for a scope to go on my 30-06 bolt action. While perusing the web I came across the Burris Fullfield With the Ballistiplex reticle. It looked really good for use with a 30-06 168 grain bullet out to 400 yards. Have you any opinion or experience with this scope? I?ve typically used Leupold scopes but this Burris looked to be nicer than its asking price.

I do not have the Fullfield with Ballistiplex, but I've used several optics with BDCs.

I feel more comfortable ranging the adjusting the dope accordingly... If you do get a scope with a BDC, make damn sure you test it on paper at the ranges you think you will be shooting as most BDCs aren't custom, although some are round specific... also take into consideration terrain elevation, angles, temp, etc (if you're gonna shoot a long way)...

Are you taking the typical MS shot, 100 yards or so (but rarely in the 200 yard range)? If so, save yo cheddar and get a Simmons or Bushnell. If you're going out west, spend the money on a scope.

I have a 25 year old $25 Walmart Bushnell on a Remington model 742 30.06. I never sight it in or even test it before the season and it drives tacks out to 100 yards.

I would want to be prepared to take (and probably miss, lol) shots out to 400, maybe 450 yards out west.

if you're not confident at 4-450, take a magnum type weapon.... 7mm, 300, 338, etc...

Will you have a professional-type with ya, or are ya hunting wtihout a guide?

I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, especially with a rifle scope. Stick with Nikon, Leupold, Zeiss or Swarovski. I've hunted out west since 2004 and have used BDC recticles since about 2007, Tusk is correct in that the BDCs aren't perfect. You'll definitely want to practice.

Also, Nightforce makes a damn good scope.

Sorry Joe but this is not funny, if you are not sure that you can make the shot, do not take it, No hunter wants to wound game and it go off and die without being found.
