    Reggie Perry (McDonalds All-American) drops to a 4 star...

    Why am I not surprised? I bet you if he had gone to Kansas or Duke he wouldn't have dropped.

    Wait...did his reduced ranking also affect his ability to play basketball? Is he a worse player because he only has 4 stars by his name now? Did they take away some of his talent when they took his star?

    If not, who cares?

    No but why does it seem to always happen? It don't affect play at all but it is frustrating to see it.

    When you are trying to build a program, perception is everything and recruiting plays a massive part in that. The perception is that our recruiting class, thus our program, isn't as good because them dropping spots drops us spots.

    yes! and Perry dropped the most of any of the top 75 players...Really? Didn't he do well in the MCD AA game too? like scored 15 or so. WTH?

    Kids 100% look at recruiting rankings. They absolutely look at them and it can affect their decision. But it also hurts us from a media perspective. When they cover signing day and recruiting classes, the further down the list we are in rankings, the further out of the discussion we are. The fewer mentions we get on social media.

    It's all cyclical. But it can and does mess with kids looking at where to go.

    Anyone know who is in charge of that specifically for his rating? I would love someone to go on twitter and message/tweet someone about why he was dropped so we can get their response.

    It takes the right players for that coaches system to win in basketball. That's what happens with Villanova- they excel in Jay Wright's system.
