    Shrader is an athlete, y'all

If you couldn't tell by his tape (btw when is the last time anyone had "tape"?). He got the 3rd highest SPARQ score at the Charlotte Elite 11.... at 6'5" no less. SPARQ score is a composite of 40,20,10, short shuttle, vertical, broad jump. Etc.

"SPARQ is a formula developed by Nike which measures player athleticism by outputting a single composite score."

    https://247sports.com/Article/Elite-...-117349988/Amp

"From an upside standpoint, Mississippi State commit Garrett Shrader is one of the most intriguing quarterbacks in the country for the 2019 class. Schrader measured in last year at over 6-4 and put up outstanding testing numbers. If he can display some fluidity as a passer, he?s got a lot of opportunity for a rankings bump and an Elite 11 Finals invitation.

Another commit with athletic upside is Florida pledge Jalon Jones. A typical Dan Mullen quarterback that may arrive in Gainesville a little bit raw as a passer, Jones is unquestionably athletic with great size. We?re anxious to see how far along he is throwing the football."

I think he has a good chance of making Elite 11 which would be cool for us. Apparently he played all of last year with a labrum tear so he's just now getting to 100%. It sounds like he's another Fitzgerald but instead of playing in an option offense he plays in a spread.

He is 10x more polished and SEC ready QB right now than Fitz was in high school .
That shows you how much Fitz has worked his ass off the last few years

    How athletic is Shrader?

For context, here is how Shrader's 117 rating compares to other QBs.

    Josh Allen - 115
    Quinton Flowers - 103
    Danny Etling - 100
    Josh Rosen - 94
    Baker Mayfield - 92

He's really damn good! That 3 star crap with him makes the whole recruiting ranking suspect, imo.

I knew that he was an athlete when I watched the first 20 seconds of his hudl highlight video.

Mayfield isn't explosive at all. Go check his rushing numbers, they're not what you might think. Ran a 4.84 40.

Now, is Etling explosive? No. But he had a better 40 time, vertical, and broad jump, and was only slightly behind on the shuttle and 3-cone. Not sure what formula you would create that would have Mayfield ahead.

Mayfield can move on a football field. He gets himself in position to move plays. Etling is no where to that nimble in the pocket.

Mayfield sacked 26 times in 433 passing attempts
Etling sacked 30 times in 300 passing attempts.

Of course some of it is the difference in the offenses, but not nearly all of it. Mayfield is very elusive in the pocket and in the open field.

That running around isn't going to work for Mayfield in the NFL.

Mayfield has good body control, certainly. But it's pretty hard to measure that.

Mayfield has quicker feet and is more twitchy than Etling. Sparq doesn't test that.

hmmm, I went and googled the Charlotte elite 11 and it had Shrader listed as the #3 QB. said he didn't throw due to an injury. not understanding.
Oh I see, this was overall athleticism.

Mississippi State commit Garrett Shrader, at 6-5 199 pounds, had the 3rd best combine score of any position but didn?t throw due to a recovering labrum injury.
Perhaps the best quarterback at the entire event was 2020 talent Luke Doty. He?s got a host of offers, he also tested well but he was one of the few quarterbacks that seemed to be able to handle the wind and conditions with consistency and command.
