Mizzou baseball series
Pretty much now or never for any postseason aspirations. We have to win this series if we wanna be in a regional.
Really hope Stovall is catching fire. He is way too good to have struggled so much going into the midweek games this week. He is now hitting .310 and an ops at .751. I would like to see his ops end up around .850.
I wanna see Gilbert Friday night. In a SSS of 23 ABs, he only has 5 hits; but of those 5 hits, he has 3 2b and 1 hr. He has pop, and we need it.
I like what I have saw out of westburg, and want him to keep starting.
I think we get it done this weekend... 2 of 3

Skelton shouldnt take another SEC AB.
Not trying to shit on him and Im no baseball expert but he just looks defeated before he steps to the plate. Body language can tell you a lot.
Vansau doesnt look very confident to me right now either

I agree, 2 out of 3. I also want to see Gilbert, AND Westburg. I don’t care where we put him in the field

Not Missouri related: It's spilled milk or potentially another Luke Reynolds story...
Reed Smith a 10-rated PG recruit that red-shirted that was told he did not have a place on the team is killing it at Dyersburg State, leading the team in BA and RBIs, second in HRs. He also raked in summer ball.
This kid was also killing it in the fall before last season, but that does not mean anything because Skelton was a 400 hitter that fall. He may have gotten all those hits off TJs. During that fall, players were hitting 500 against Hayden Marze, Kale Breaux, and Parker Ford.

I think any postseason aspirations are already gone. But hey, hope I?m wrong.

Probably so. I will point out though, we were at 12-10 (0-3 sec) at this same point last season

Reed Smith was a Cohen guy, just like Chad Bryant.
Then again, we also got Tanner Allen, who was a Cannizaro guy. I'd take that trade all day.

Postseason aspirations already left, at least concerning regionals. Now we are simply trying to make Hoover.
Program objectives for 2018:
1) Play freshmen position players
2) Get Mangum and Pilkington drafted
3) Heal arms

4) Hire a badass coach who knows better than chasing squirrel during games and practices.

I have a feeling we're going to get it done. Great situation for a coach to walk into, and a great time for us to be searching.
- We (presumably) will have just had a bad season, so expectations are lowered, however any coach worth his salt can see that we will make a big rebound next year.
- Brand new awesome stadium.
- A number of big time coaches who have been at their programs for a long time and may be looking to jump.
- An AD who gets it when it comes to baseball.

Smith is also playing with Hagar Severance who was kicked off the team following a DUI I believe. They're both hitting it well. I remember thinking Reed would be our next Gridley, unfortunately he was looked down on by a certain few baseball experts on here.
Also of note, Brant Blaylock will be another guy we talk about in a few years down at USM who we will regret walking. He's hitting .333 with 9 HR, 22 RBI with only 9 k's through 16 games.

Blaylock left us and we gave him 100 ABs to prove himself. So, he is a different kind of story
Smith (6-0 190lbs 3B) seems to be a good soldier that took a redshirt year and then was let go. It’s gonna suck to see him in a Vanderbilt uniform next year. Or at Kentucky hitting 12-HRs for Miningone

Westburg is a hitter. I would definitely have him in the everyday lineup. I wish we could get Foscue and Westburg in together, but we don't seem willing to move Stovall to C.

Didnt we get swept by Arky last year in the first series

What does Mizzou pitching look like? If that staff is any good at all, this series is impossible to win.

Hurts to say this....but this baseball team feels like our hands are handcuffed to our ankles and every team in the SEC Prison looks forward to taking their turn.
