North AL residents be prepared for severe weather today

SPC is about to upgrade areas north of Birmingham to a moderate risk with the anticipation of a possible tornado outbreak this afternoon and early tonight. Activity could possibly start in extreme eastern MS. Now, we?re not talking 4/27/11 style outbreak by any stretch, but it could be an interesting afternoon. I?m prepping the chase vehicle now.

How bout the golden triangle area? Everything I've seen says we're just west of the biggest threat?

I think MS misses the worst. Eastern MS may catch the very onset of it.

PDS Tornado watch was just issued for north Alabama, NE Mississippi and middle Tennessee. Weather Channel has the Tor Con at 7 for the Huntsville area.

We?re getting close to main event storm initiation. Besides tornadoes, 3in hail will also be possible in strongest storms.
