Incredibly dumb. I love the analytics part of the game, but common sense says keep Nola in.

Kapler was hired to do just what he did. Take gut feel, instinct, and experience completely out of the equation and manage strictly by the analytics book. They'll say that if they manage that way all year day in and day out they'll be successful in the end

In theory. Phillies do not have a good bullpen though, so is a scrub reliever really a better option that your young stud starter?

Oh you're preaching to the choir believe me. I've warmed to certain bits of analytic data but overall baseball is a feel and strategy game. Way more fun to view the game that way IMO

Nah, first game of the year with a young pitcher. He's probably not fully stretched out yet. No need to push the envelope yet.
The dumb move was Brothers in the 6th. Then winkler. Worst 2 pitchers in the pen.

Brothers decision was sketchy at best, but straight up horrible to let him face right hander after walking lefty

Hey scruffy gets his 1st hit and run. He finally hits how he needs to. A liner into short left gap.

It was a good high fastball. Most times he would have tried to jack it but kept his swing level and hit it good.

How many arms do the Phillies have left in the pen? They threw 5 yesterday and are currently on their 3rd today.
