    Football Program Perception

This is an interesting article. Especially the bit about the perception among recruits between us an OM. There is almost no difference on the graph when you take into account the budget of our department (which we out perform) in terms of perception. So know matter what OM likes to think of themselves and their program image (more glamorous, wealthy, big-time), recruits (nationally) see us as virtually the same...regardless of how much they spend to promote themselves and how many Brett's and Katy's they get to shout them out on Twitter. My thinking is they have pretty much maxed out theirs and we still have room to grow. Next season can be a big step for us to improve our perception, especially that we can be successful without DM.

Speaking of perception...did anyone notice the text at the top of the poster image that went along with that OM coach's tweet that got deleted? "Blue-Collar. Tough. Hard-Nosed Football" Is that what they are trying to bill themselves as now? When has that EVER been their identity? First they swipe Mississippi Made that we used first years ago (which is categorically untrue when it comes to them) now they are trying to say they are "blue-collar"? That is laughable. And they say we copy them????? They are basically trying to swipe MSU's entire identity which has been so effective for us in recruiting the Mississippi players that they ignored for years. Trying to take our core principles because they have none themselves.

They have to gone it back in and make it appear like they’re focusing instate so Bama, UGA, and Texas will quit turning them in. Everyone knows that the NCAA doesn’t care when we complain about it. So, we’re back to fighting tooth and nail to he death over Mississippi recruits. It’ll start next season and stay that way for the next half a decade or so. They’ll pay out the ass for the kids that are looking for a hand out and we’ll continue to take the kids who are willing to work and help them get to the NFL. It’s who they are. It’s who we are. Nothing will change.

Yep. It's why I don't have a lot of angst over recruiting and such because I've been watching it play out the same between us over my 53 years. We get our share and they get theirs. I will say that our football program is in a better place than its ever been and with the people in place to continue our progress. We sustain our momentum and success no reason we can't have a very successful consistent program with a chance to legitimately compete for the West every so often. I'm very happy with where our administration has us to this point. We have evolved.

Something about how MSU people pick then selves up by the bootstraps, and UM people spend their parents money.

MSU as an AM school really is salt of the Earth. We invent, they litigate
