What's funny is that Saban traded Pat Surtain when he became the Dolphins head coach. Traded him to Kansas City for a 2nd round pick, and then used that pick on Iowa DE Matt Roth.

He had a heck of a defense at Miami. Had Saban had his own personnel wishes come true, the Dolphins would have signed Drew Brees instead of Donte Culpepper. The organization wouldn't sign off on it because of team doctors concern over what I believe was his neck (if memory serves me correct). Had he signed Brees, he may have never left the NFL, at least not so soon, and BAMA would have likely never signed him. I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

    FIFY

additionally, had Tebow gone to Bammer, similar arguments could be made...

My only question is why didnt we hire Surtain? We had a perfect chance to bring him home with the coaching change.

When you consider we are 1 truly lock down corner from being a playoff contender, this is a good question

Oddly enough, Surtain replaced Terrell Buckley in the Dolphins starting line up during his second season in the NFL.
