    OK old farts, like myself

Best defensive nicknames from the 60/70s. Extra points by naming the players.

    You have:

    1. Doomsday I. from 69-73
1a. Doomsday II, from 75 on
    2. The Purple People Eaters
    3. The Fearsome Foursome/
    4. The Steel Curtain.

Mine is Doomsday 1. What they did to Bob Griese in the Super Bowl should be illegal. Bo Lilly, Jethro Pugh, George Andre and Larry Cole. If they would've had an Offense in 1970 they would've beaten the Colts also. Dam you Craig Morton

I hated the Steelers back then. No body could beat them. Today those 70's Steeler teams are my favorite. I miss those days when they played because they just played football. You didn't have all these drama queens.

Although I hated the Steelers back then I always liked the steel curtain. LC Greenwood was a steel curtain member and he was from Canton Miss.

Best nickname, hands down, is the Chinese Bandits at LSU in the 50's. The band still plays their fanfare on every LSU defensive stop. So it still lives today. Great tradition
Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.

When I'm 80 and deaf, it's not going to be all those Springsteen concerts or Queen at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on Halloween Night in 1978, it will be this game...............Glen Guilbeau--Sherveport Times

As a GA kid, I was a fan of the Gritz Blitz Falcons of ?77 - Jerry Glanville was DC. Claude Humphrey was the big man on that one. Typical Falcons - gave up only 9.2 points a game and went 7-7.

Shout out to the Junkyard Dawgs under Erk Russell and the Black Watch at GT with Pat Swilling and Ted Roof

I don't know how old you are, but Eddie Ray fullback for the Falcons 72-74 is a friend of mine. He's from my hometown. Vicksburg, Ms.
