Mississippi State currently sits at 8-3 overall and 4-3 in SEC play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 28-21 road win over Arkansas and have won five of their last six games. Mississippi State is 5-1 at Davis Wade Stadium, with its only home loss coming to top-ranked Alabama. The Bulldogs are bowl eligible after missing the postseason last season for the first time since 2009. Junior QB Nick Fitzgerald has thrown for 1,770 yards and 15 TDs this season. Fitzgerald has combined with junior running back Aeris Williams to form one of the most dynamic running games in the SEC. Fitzgerald has run for 968 yards and 14 TDs, ranking second in the SEC. Williams is not far behind with 944 rushing yards (85.8 ypg) and has tallied five rushing touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, MSU boasts the third-best defense in the SEC, allowing just 297.2 yards per game. The Bulldogs are just one of three SEC teams that have allowed nine or fewer passing TDs this season. Junior Montez Sweat leads Mississippi State with 11.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks. Defensive back Mark McLaurin is the Bulldogs? top tackler with 63 tackles on the season. He also leads State with two interceptions.
