    1. The interwebs and other social media wasn't around then or it would have happened.
    2. The Kang all but erased that nightmare by the time his tenure was over and I'm sure Mullen will do the same.

    Rockey was also one of our own, who later came back to work for the guy who replaced him. I think most would view bashing Rockey like bashing their own kin.

    * Croom: 21-38 overall - 10-30 SEC - 1 Bowl - Coach of the Year Award
    * Felker: 21-34 overall - 5- 28 SEC - 0 Bowls - 0 Awards

    Obviously they both sucked & were in over their heads! Really should make us appreciate that all people can complain about Mullen is his record when ranked vs ranked! Hell, Sly & Rockey barely had us ranked!!
    Because Rockey recruited fairly well, and seemed to have at least some offense. When he had Shell, we probably chucked it around more than anybody. Of course everyone were I-formation, split backs or wishbone then.

    Croom on the other hand was still running the late 80's offense while everyone we played were in the new century. He was determined to get in the I and "do things the right way". Meanwhile, everyone else were ringing up scoreboards
    Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.

    When I'm 80 and deaf, it's not going to be all those Springsteen concerts or Queen at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on Halloween Night in 1978, it will be this game...............Glen Guilbeau--Sherveport Times

    It takes about 10 years or so for our fans to "forget" about the last coach. It's natural I guess. The good thing is our fans also tend to "forgive"- see hiring Rockey back as an assistant on the staff by the coach who replaced him and to be honest if you asked a lot of our fans if they would take Croom back as a running backs coach I would be willing to be that the majority would say yes.

    The interesting thing to me is that we're the total polar opposite of Ole Miss who when they get rid of a coach they pretty much totally burn the bridge completely and go out of their way to ruin their career.

    He won the SEC player of the year in 1974 as well which was back in the dark ages of MSU football when we never went to a bowl game and rarely beat Ole Miss. Felker was the closest thing we had to Dak at that time and a lot of people would have made a strong argument that he was our greatest QB of all time before Dak.

    So, not only would it be like bashing one of our own- it would be kind of like bashing Dak Prescott a little bit as well.
