MSU vs Bama highest rated college football game this season
Guess the world tuned in hoping we could pull the upset.
-
Yep and they saw a program becoming elite. (Us not bama lol)
-
Not exactly ... it was the highest rated cable game. It's 9th overall ... the 8 ahead and the 10th were all on broadcast networks.

I told folks at the game last night that I felt everyone in the nation was probably for us (except bearsharks, maybe) as everyone is sick of bama ruining college FB and especially the SEC. Very little suspense about them anymore in any of the games in the SEC or playoffs.

Yep, its the same reason on a smaller scale everyone wanted to see us knock off UConn in women's hoops. Nobody wants to see one school just totally dominate the sport. One of the reasons the NFL is as popular as it is is because of the competitiveness across the league. When it almost becomes a given that one school is going to win it removes a lot of the entertainment value.

I had people texting me during the game that I have worked with in the past, basically hoping someone would beat Bama. It is a sign of good things.

A few more exceptional notes ESPN has released:
"Alabama at Mississippi State Earns Historical and Season Superlatives
ESPN’s telecast of Alabama at Mississippi State (7:15 p.m.) delivered a Nielsen total live audience of 7,031,000 viewers, peaking at an impressive 11,427,000 viewers (10:15 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.) Historically, the more than 7 million viewers is cable’s most-watched Saturday college football game in over two years and among ESPN’s top 10 most-viewed regular season Saturday games in more than 20 seasons.
For the 2017 season, the Crimson Tide’s last-minute victory is the sixth most-watched game across all networks, broadcast and cable, and second most-watched SEC Conference game across all networks.
For the week, the Crimson Tide-Bulldogs game generated a 199% greater audience on ESPN from last year’s comparable window (LSU at Arkansas) and outdrew Fox in primetime by 138%."

We could not have asked for better exposure (well, unless we won!).

I read it was the highest rated game across all networks for that night, though.

No, I think Miami/Notre Dame was higher, maybe some others.
