Horatio and Carter trying to retire on Malik's coattails is going to screw him over. They are trying to make him into Seth Curry when he is closer to Montae Ellis. There is nothing wrong with getting to the NBA as a 6th man 3 point specialist. I hope they don't screw over Malik's chance at a career because of it. Q was the better player as a freshman and we still didn't run the whole team through him. Jordan didn't win any titles by just shooting the ball every time down the court. Jordan was actually a great passer and defensive player. He took a lot of shots but he played within the team concept. Malik hasn't figured out that a lot of times he isn't the most talented player on the floor. I hope for his future that Self is able to convince him of it since his advisors wouldn't listen to Howland.

Mailk is a good college player, but to even put him in the same sentence with Monta is just crazy. Monta is a pure shooter, Mailk is a freak athlete, but not a pure shooter.
Monta could knock it down from anywhere on the floor, Malik is more of a slasher than a shooter. Big difference..

Thank you! I dont even think Malik is that great of a shooter. His shooting mechanics are not near the caliber of elite shooters even in the college game. Monta oughta slap the taste out yalls mouth. Monta career average is 16pts per game. Monta wouldve averaged 25 in college EASY. Malik will never average more than 10pts in an NBA season if he gets to play one. He was extremely overhyped out of high school until proven otherwise.

Kansas and Self can get away with throwing truth at Camp Newman, because, well, they are Kansas. Same way Saban can keep all the 5 stars at Bama in line - they can be replaced.

Where are people getting that Malik is a freak athlete? He is not very long and struggles greatly finishing at the rim. There are scouts saying they need to see some type of "burst" from Malik because it has yet to be on display. He was a physically mature kid in high school (not skinny) and that benefited him greatly. Even if he got in phenomenal shape in his year off, burst is often something you either have or you don't. Monta Ellis was pure lightning on the court as he had one of the best first steps in the NBA. It is the reason he could hang around the league so long while being such a lousy defender. All this being said, Malik will be a good college player at Kansas and make very nice money playing ball overseas. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Newman doesn't have great hops too. I think he dunked one time in a game while at MSU.

THIS. Malik is a streaky 3pt shooter that can't dribble past anyone or finish at the rim on the off chance he does. Monta could get by anyone. Elite quickness and a wizard around the rim. Really good midrange game and okay behind the NBA 3pt line. Would have been great at the college 3.

Malik will never play a full season (if at all) in the NBA. He is a 6-3 shooting guard with no elite skill. Those guys don't make it to the league.

Between Seth Curry and Montae Ellis, Newman is closer to Ellis. There was a comparision there. I am saying that his handlers think he is on the level of Seth Curry but he is closer to Del Curry. Is that comparison better? Newman has a good shot but he doesn't have great athleticism.

No. Del Curry played 16 seasons in the NBA and retired with a career average of 11.7 points. Newman will be lucky to play 16 games in the NBA.

I don't think Malik should take all the blame - see Horatio and Omhar.

Oh Ohmar definitely hasn't escaped blame. He's the number one target actually. Newman is just young and doesn't know how to stand up for himself yet. It's a shame but it's a learning process and nobody can make him do it but himself. Passive demeanor/attitudes don't last in the NBA so he'll either figure it out or be a high school coach in 6 years.
