1. Good, solid performance yesterday. Game went about as expected. BYU just doesnt have any playmakers for them this season and our defense absolutely smothered them. We ran 50 plays on offense in the 1st half and just wore them down. I absolutely hate 11:00 games, they just suck. Crowd isnt really awake, its freaking hot, too early to really enjoy a drink, its too hot, Sun makes it hard to view certain angles, its freaking hot.....etc

2. Our QB had a solid day but a couple of bad turnovers. The 241 yards passing was actually quite an accomplishment yesterday considering BYU played a 5 man box most of the game. They were daring us to run and playing pass. Interesting strategy to say the least. We did what we were supposed to do in rushing for 300 yards. Fitz had a clean pocket most of the day and had windows to make throws. When he got some pressure I thought he moved well in the pocket to find a lane to throw the ball. Of course, its alot easier to do that vs BYU than against an SEC DL. But he did what he was supposed to do and looked good doing it. His 1st pick was trying to force the ball into somewhere he shouldnt have and the 2nd was floating the ball with pressure in his face. Things QB do. 7 picks already this season is a bit high.

3. Aeris Williams plays the most snaps at RB because he is our most complete RB. He is a good runner but not great- but if you watch him he is patient in waiting for his linemen to set their zone blocks or when they pull. Hill and Gibson- while more explosive- haven't learned that yet. Aeris is also a really good pass-protector. He absolutely stonewalls edge rushers or LB'ers when needed. He catches the ball well out of the backfield. To me he is similar to Emmit Smith- not really great at anything but good at everything. Gibson and Hill are very explosive and give us the big play threat- but they have work to do in other areas.

4. We just arent very good at WR. Our QB can be erratic at times and needs to get better with touch- but the drops are just awful. We are really inconsistent. Gray has a drop and then will make a one-handed catch with a defender on his back. Thomas isnt catching it cleanly. We dont have a big play threat although it was good to see Couch get a TD. We have played half a season- Couch and Todd have combined to make 10 receptions this year. This group is what it is.

5. OL play was solid. It should have been with BYU playing a 5 man box. Pulled Williams alot against that 3 man front to get numbers. 5.8 per carry is always a good day. Fitz had very little pressure on him all day. Really didnt understand BYU's gameplan defensively. It was incredibly shitty. No pressure all day. This group will be tested more vs Kentucky, Wildcats are 3rd in the SEC vs the run- but last against the pass. We know what they will try to stop the hardest vs us. Our starting OL plays alot of minutes- really need guys 6-8 to get a few reps

6. DL is dominant. Sweat and Simmons are outstanding. Simmons commands a double team most plays and Sweat is getting better and better at beating OT's 1 on 1. They handled business yesterday. Big week coming up with the way Kentucky runs the ball.

7. LB'er play is still inconsistent. Green is playing good ball as is Gray. Leo has been inconsistent and needs to get better. Stupid penalty as well yesterday. Harris still racks up tackles despite being a step slow to me.

8. Good day in pass coverage. Bryant got burned on a post route for a TD but redeemed himself a little with a pick later on. Mangum had a solid percentage on completions- but they were alot of high percentage throws. Anytime you hold the opposing team to 145 yards passing, you have usually played well in the Secondary.

9. Logan Cooke is stepping it up. Currently 4th in the SEC in punting at over 46 yards per. Also kicking off well. Looks like he has a chance to continue playing after this season at the next level.

10. 4-2 on the season with a big SEC game coming up against 5-1 Kentucky (feels funny typing that). We are the better defensive team and it's probably a push offensively. Kentucky's improvement in the passing game has been surprising this season. Not sure if the 3pm start is a good thing or not. Will be a good test for us. Hope we pass and get more momentum heading into College Station.
