    Looking at the stats

This game wasn?t as close as it felt in the 3rd quarter. Total yards were 546-176. First downs were 35-8 and we held the ball for over 36 minutes. I think what kept it from being a CSU level route was two boneheaded interceptions and our receivers obviously having KY on their hands. The crowd was pathetic. I expected a small crowd, but this would have made USM fans laugh. At least traffic was no issue on the way home. Two things concern me on D...our secondary and lack of sacks. I?m scared when we play a pass happy team like A&M and another school our secondary is going to get shredded. Especially if we can?t get pressure on the QB. We?re 5 games into the season and have 10 sacks. With the talent we have up front I?d like to see that total up around 20. Simmons can?t do everything himself when getting double teamed. On offense...run the football. We?ve got to channel our inner Jackie Sherrill and be able to consistently run against an 8 man front. Fitz is inconsistent and our receivers can?t catch a beachball. Can?t really complain about our o line today. I think they did a good job of keeping Fitz protected and opening up running lanes.

Can?t say enough good things about our running backs. It really is a shame they all can?t start and get 20 reps each. Gibson really impressed me today. He just refused to be tackled. Mixon and Aeris were good catching balls out in the flat and turning them upfield for big gains. Hill continued to show flashes of the great back he is going to become.

Overall, I?d say this was a flat performance of a team that knew they were far superior and just going through the motions in front of an empty stadium. They will need to step it up next week or Kentucky will make this more of a game than we?re all confortable with.

I agree with everything. Good post. I think the pass rush will get a lot better once Cory Thomas returns. And more pressure up front will help the secondary.

Y?all notice we hardly blitzed today? Our defense played very very base today.
