For all the hype of the bear offense

They have a grand total of 11 more yards than us. That's it. And unlike the bears, we have liberally used backups in games against cupcakes instead of leaving our starters in to pad stats and we have also already played a ranked SEC foe.

Amazing how many of these "expert" talking heads keep buying into their hype. They have literally not played a "real" defense yet. smh

I am glad that everyone who has on a uniform is playing at MSU. No need to run the score up.. IF Dan had chosen to move forward then MSU would have numbers ahead of OM...

Their offense kind of reminds me of the last Jackie Sherrill offense in 2003. Fant would just throw it deep for Ray Ray and he would just run by people. That worked against teams that had shitty defenses but as soon as we saw a good defense, it was bad. Hopefully UM gets a 2 -10 record for themselves.

Mimi's right, I'm sure we couldve put up 4 or 5 more tds this year and fitz, aeris and company could have gaudy stats, but Dan is getting all our kids much needed playing time and it sure does make everyone feel like they contributed to at lease some degree. Good for team chemistry, morale. Also helps avoid unneccesary injuries.

They run 28 plays.. of those, half are just the receivers running downfield trying to get open with a slightly different formation look before snap.. It's a joke.

I think I read that 85% of their plays have been passes.

And then you have Gruden talking about how Engram only knew 2 routes and didn't have a clue about a route tree. I guess NFL teams run more than bubble screens or go routes.

I thought that was hilarious. He brought out the diagrams and everything. Engram only ran 2 routes, a seam and a corner route. Gruden on the unm hit list now and any thoughts he ever had about coaching there went out the window lol

I think their air raid offense has potential to be great. As long as Shea is upright and AJ is on the field. However, don't think the first will happen often, that OL looked like trash last week. I know they lost their center (Rawlings? I think?) but even then, Cal was still getting pressure with a four man front.

They're being hyped? Maybe they are and I haven't seen it, but they clearly can't run the ball. That offense is the definition of smoke and mirrors and isn't very good.

However if Ole Miss still had Engram their offense would be hitting it. He made that offense for Freeze. You saw just how bad it was with out him last season. Losing Kelly wan't near as bad as losing Engram.

I believe one of the announcers for the Cal game said Longo told him that he tells his receivers to run to the largest area of green grass they can find and turn for the ball.

Yep. And told Shea no need wasting time reading defenses, just start with the first receiver. If he ain't open look to another one and 'trust your cannon', and just sling it to the open one, I believe.

On the running up the score. I'm so glad Dan doesn't do it. Their is no need to run it up. Once the game is in hand he starts getting is playmakers out. It limits opportunity for injury, gets backups playing time, it no longer helps in computer rankings that I know of, doesn't look like a dick and I imagine it's easier to find lesser teams willing to play us on our time. And MMDL does the same thing, and it's not what the landsharks do....
You're blind if you can't see improvement.....Freshmens......Strain.....Kick rocks and pound sand......Drag my Yankee ass outta here!......

Their yards stat is going to be skewed especially at this point in the season- they run more plays than a typical team and their competition has not been good.
