It's their genetics. When the best and brightest Ole Miss students were killed by America in the Civil War, what was left was cowards and cripples. That, along with generations of in-breeding, left the Ole Miss strain very weak.
The reason you don't see World War I or World War II statues on the Ole miss campus (as opposed to The Mississippi State University) is because most Ole Miss students and alum were 4-F's who used diddy's connections to get out of fighting for their country (notable exception was Charlie Conerly). That's one of the reasons Ole Miss was so good after the war- they were thousands of miles in the rear, while Mississippi State players FOUGHT for their country (and either died or were severely wounded).
