So on the guys were Hev is the primary recruiter that we land - Dak, Chris, Fitz - he gets no credit and the kids we miss where he is the secondary recruiter as position coach he gets all the blame. I'm not being a Hev apologist - but when our last two QBs have said he was relentless and one of the primary reasons they got interested in State, I tend listen.

The reality is that collectively, our evaluation
OL talent, being able to gauge who we can land and who will hang around as plan Bs, and the overall OL approach to recruitment has sucked - but it's been a team effort.

OL recruiting isn't because Hev doesn't care or doesn't put the time in. My former Boss's son was a solid recruit back around 2013 and was very interested in State. Went on an official visit and when I asked him about it he said his son loved State but that the OL coach was a huge prick and that he couldn't stand him. This is on a damn visit when you are suppose to make them feel loved for God sake. This was before I knew much about the shortcomings of Hev but I look back to that convo all the time now and it all makes sense. You have to have a certain personality to recruit and apparently Hev ain't got it. For what it's worth I think he's a great X's and O's coach.

It's just speculation. Looney played o-line and has coached some o-line in the past at other places.

So Hevesy should get all the credit then? He should get half the credit just like everyone else. Like I said he gets too much credit for it and sometimes I've seen others talk about it like Hevesy is the only reason why Dak came here and Dan Mullen and Les had nothing to do with it.

I get so tired of seeing these type posts. I'll tell you what, make Hev the QB coach and see how many of those type guys he reels in. We didn't get Lashley primarily because he didn't want to play under our current OL coach. Now there are players that don't mind having a horse's rear end for a coach but there a large number that do.

Yep, and it shouldn't take a mensa student for folks on here to realize that Hev's personality becomes a much bigger factor for guys that know he will personally coach them for the next 4 years than it is for those that he won't.

Thought our receiver had that glide (best description I can give) that just looks like a good receiver. Todd really had that look....we shall see. couch looked the part also.

You are correct, and it is amazing that our HC doesn't realize that, or maybe he does, but his friendship is too entrenched to part ways.
