How bad would it suck to be a Bear in all honesty???

    1) They are already nostalgic for the past, for what their grandfather told them were the glory days. While we get hard up for success sometimes, they are even more starved for it.
    2) They go on probation in 1994, seem to be back on solid footing, the Tuberville years rebound them quickly and Eli sets them up for a nice run of success, but a loss at the Liberty Bowl stadium and a fluke play (sound familiar) keep them out of Atlanta.
    3) They quickly fall back into Nothingville, and what's worse, they begin to go through social justice hell with all their 'tradishuns' and are effectively emasculated with no pride left.
    4) A renewed enthusiasm in recruiting sets them up for some high years with a stop gap coach in 2008 and 2009, only to be tarnished by that coach driving their program into the ground.
    5) In walks the savior, a home grown guy who walks the walk (coaching the recruiting wise) and talks the talk (perfect for Ole Miss perception politics), and they get him for relatively cheap. He beats MSU, signs the best recruiting classes since the 60s, unites them through their 'tradishuns' loss, and makes them relevant.
    6) Omens rise again in another Liberty Bowl stadium loss and a fluke play keeps them out of Atlanta, but they do win the Sugar Bowl and sign another incredible class. They can't be touched. They are essentially talked about in the same circles with some of the upper tier programs in the country.
    7) Within one year later: F5 level destruction: draft night, 1st NOA, drop 2 top 5 games with a big lead, lose Egg Bowl at home, 2nd NOA, horrific recruiting class, savior fired, horrific penalties await.

It's really too good to be true. I still can't believe they choked away 2015.

It's bad enough that I might actually feel sorry for some of my friends kids depending on the penalties. If they get what people are expecting, then they are basically the bad version of Vandy for the next five or six years except without good academics to claim and without being in Nashville.

What really sucks is that if conference realignment is not done, they could be disadvantaged the next time there's a shake up if it occurs in the next 10 years. If there is another shakeup, there probably would have been a good chance that MSU and UM would both be left out. If they are struggling, it slightly increases MSU's odds of staying relevant and completely kills UM's chances.
