Great player with a life cut way too short. Early in his career, we were getting stomped by someone and he and his fellow running back from Hernando (can't remember his name), were sitting on top of the bench near the fence. I walked down and told them to keep their heads up, better days were ahead. They were both perfect gentlemen and thanked me for the encouragement. Always think of him when I see #21. Are the tributes to him and Rodney Stowers still in the game day locker room?

I happened to be traveling to Columbus for work the morning the news hit that Keefer had drowned. I attended the news conference on campus that morning and I will never forget how utterly devasted everybody was. I especially remember the giant Robert Hicks fighting through tears to deliver a special tribute to his fallen friend Keefer. Keefer's mom was there as well. I will never forget that day.
