    Weekend's Fishing Trip

Got to fish the Goula area I've been eyeing and unfortunately the massive amounts of rain had everything screwed up. I saw virtually no bait and only saw 2 fish, both gar. My buddy did catch 1 slot red. It didn't take long to see the dirty fresh water would not be producing much so I decided to get on the trolling motor and cover a lot of ground as well as explore some trenasses and ponds to see if they were deep enough to hold fish. Perhaps the coolest thing I learned was all those tiny bayous and cracks headed west toward lake catchemall were easily navigable by kayak and should hold fish when there is more salinity. Sight fishing area. I will most definitely be back for more in this area.

    View from the launch

Area that had small grass islands scattered around off Mcinnis Bayou (map calls it gurlie bayou).

So many shorelines with broken grass making it irregular. Again, looked like Redfish heaven

There were a ton of small bayous like this that led to interior marsh that a boat couldn't do but in the yak, no problem

Can't get to the islands in a kayak lol. I'm hard headed. I'll go and try to find out. Sometimes that leads to banging my head against a wall and sometimes persistence pays off.

Well I live on Big Lake so I won't divulge my secret holes. But you need a skiff or kayak to fish them.
