At What Point Do OM Fans Demand To Know the Truth?
After reading the Wolken article & seeing the continued effort to hide, delay, redact, etc.... I've begun to wonder, when will it end?
When will OM fans demand to know the truth about their football program?
Your done, your toast, your program is about to get hammered back to the stone age. There is nothing left for you to hang onto.
Everything you are currently trying to hide is going to come out, either now, 2 weeks from now, a month, etc, but it is going to come out. Why try & delay it?
I just don't understand why they don't demand the firing of Bjork & Vitter, hire a new AD & Chancellor, & have them go before the COI & say, "Those guys were whack jobs that did an incredible disservice to this university. Here are the phone records & anything else you may need. All we care about it finalizing this process so that we can get on with the task of rebuilding our football program in the correct way."
Why don't they do this? All they are doing right now is delaying the inevitable & delaying their return to being a respectable program.
At what point to OM fans realize that their program was & is still currently being hijacked by adminstrators that in an effort to save their own ass are delaying the rebuild of the program by slowly taking the band-aid off 1 week/month at time?
Do OM fans still not want to know the extent of the cheating & are holding in hopes that some Matlock moment completely reverses everything?
Do they just want to delay so they can keep their current players from transferring? Again, it's over. Ultimately, other than maybe winning a few more games this year when you can't go to a bowl, there is no reason to keep them. They will be transferring after this year anyway.
Where are all the good Christians I saw on twitter for 5 years? Would Christians with a conscience realize something is off with their program & demand accountability & to know what's going on?
If I were an OM fan, I would hope I recognized the reality of this situation & demanded that all the cards be shown so that we could move on.

I think they all know the truth. That's why this has become a game of protect. There's more involved. They need to keep as much of the network together as possible and pray the NCAA stops investigating. When they get their legs cut out from underneath them, they will need some of the network in place to rebuild. So I think they are protecting themselves for the future moreso than the present. I would bet most of them are ready for this to get done regardless of the penalties so they can get the microscope off of them and start back at it.

I honestly think that it would take getting booted from the conference or better yet, booted from the NCAA for them to finally have that moment of awakening and actually see what their program has become.
Until then, it will always be someone else's fault.

The problem is, is that the administration isn't in charge there. At every school in the sec boosters apply pressure to get what they want, but in oxford they are running the show. If they fire the current guys it's a rinse and repeat situation.

Never. Been going on for decades but it's at a high time high with cheating and denial.
-
There will be no contrition. Ever. No matter what happens, they will say they got caught doing the same thing everyone else does.

^^^This, at this point it's obvious they are figureheads. They don't make any decisions.

I think their problem is this:
Their fans fall into two basic categories- the lunatic fringe and then the normal people.
The problem is the lunatic fringe is in control and they have glorified cheating.
The normal people feel like there is nothing that they can do about because they aren't in control and they aren't getting the truth so it's possible that they may not know quite how bad it is. When the lunatic fringe that's in control is telling you "everything's OK, 9 over 3, all during Nutt's time..." it's hard to take action before it's too late and demand that things change before it gets out of control. I think with Freeze getting fired it's just now sinking in how bad it is going to get- and I think the normal fans are scared that the escorts were indeed for recruits and players.
The lunatic fringe is going to keep fighting until the bitter end. The normal people are just hoping that they have a football program that doesn't have the death penalty stain on it eight years from now.
-
They're ego forbids them to admit the truth. They want to think they are the best thing ever.

Exactly. They have a warped perception that everyone has systemic cheating at a level like they do. The problem with that logic is if that was true, the Treadwell's, Nkemdiche's, and Tunsil's would have gone to Alabama where they could have the same perks that they were getting at Ole Miss but have much better coaching and a much better chance at being developed for the NFL because all things as far as recruiting benefits would have been equal.
Of course in their bias they think they are on par with Alabama so that doesn't really help them in this case as far as seeing the light.

This is raw arrogance mixed with a hundred years of entitlement. They are about to find out what their ancestors went through when the Old South fell to the dust bin of history.

Sitting in the doctor's office last week early morn awaiting my tests, (morning after Freeze resigned:
Old Bear #1,"Guess you heard Freeze resigned last night."
Old Bear #2, Yeah, he was a good coach."
Bear #1, "Yeah, he beat Alabama."
Bear #2, "I guess he quit over money."
Many of their normal fans don't know and don't want to know. Haven't even read the NOI's and won't. But he beat Alabama! Herein lies a big part of their problem. I kept my mouth shut, didn't want to tell them the reason for the Freeze resignation in front of their elderly wives.

What you are referring to as normal is 1 % of that fanbase
Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.
When I'm 80 and deaf, it's not going to be all those Springsteen concerts or Queen at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on Halloween Night in 1978, it will be this game...............Glen Guilbeau--Sherveport Times

Are you saying that the NCAA is going to make them run up a hill and shoot them like Gettysburg?

Even after all this crap going on and everything that has come to light, I still feel that the majority of our fan base doesn't understand what we are dealing with and how things are run at UNM. It's so abnormal that most can't wrap their heads around it.

Maybe, "They were talking in code, Hayseeds", (movie-Raising Arizona bank robbers) in all these phone calls. So what have they got to hide?****

They pretty much all condone it shotgun. I'm not exaggerating or joking either.

If there is any justice in this universe, yes.

The sad part of this investigation is how it will adversely impact the image of not only the football program, but the school's reputation in general across the country, for years to come. Just come clean and get it over with, instead of further damaging your program and school.
The narrative coming from the school appears that they really want to get/punish the people that are exposing and/or reporting on this situation, rather than being upset with the coaches and others that actually committed these actions and letting the lawyers play hide and seek with the truth.

That fan base will never demand anything from their administration. In fact, I seriously doubt Vitter/Bjork are the ones calling the shots- they've been puppets on strings for a long time now.
The reason the fan base isn't demanding accountability is because this is the path they've chosen- their big money people and to a certain extent the average fan as well. UM fans see the past 18-20 months as normal behavior.
