Hunter also doesn't really have that much help in the lineup other than Myers.

I didn't realize it, but it looks like Mark McGwire is his hitting coach. Saw him congratulate Renfroe on the video.

To have that kind of exit velocity off of a changeup does show the type of power Hunter has. Hell if he could hit around .280 then he might lead the league in homers.

Over his 101 games in MLB so far, he is batting .245 with 24 HR, 57 RBI and a.793 OPs - that's not a bad start to a career.

But people told me that he would be going back and forth between MLB and the minors.

Correct, Big Mac is the Padres hitting coach. Renfroe has top 10 power in MLB and he keeps getting bigger and stronger. Padres lineup isn't all that terrible lately, they have some nice young players. Blash, Spangenburg, Renfroe are a nice young nucleus. Padres are trending up.

I'm still pissed the Braves didn't demand he be part of the J Upton or Kimbrel trades. I'd murder to have his bat sandwiched between Freeman & Kemp.

Here's a San Diego Times tribune article on how historic Renfroe's season has been.

The TLDR version - he is on pace to absolutely destroy the Padres rookie HR record if he stays healthy, and is already the first Padre rookie to ever hit 20 HR's and 20 doubles in his first 90 games.

His batting average has been on the rise the last 30-45 days while his strike outs have been on the decline. Renfro is a future perennial All Star, he will consistently hit between .260 to .280 with 35-45 HR's & 110 to 120 RBI's a year.
Not bad for a lightly recruited academy boy
