Freeze had the unenviable task of deciding to disclose whether the calls were for himself or for recruits. I still think he received an under the table buyout that we will never know about for him to claim personal "sins of the flesh" responsibility in order to cover up the true purpose of the calls.
    ^^^Yes, this, thank you.

"Oh these 4-5 star players are coming here because Freeze can change their lives!" The other problem I had with how he used Christianity was that at times it seemed like he was almost saying that God loves Ole Miss more than others or loves him more than others because of his faith. That has nothing to do with Christianity and is not Biblical. You can't "work" your way into Heaven. God loves each of us equally whether we are a State, Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Tulane, Liberty University or EMCC fan. The point is to have a relationship with God and accept that Jesus was his Son who died for our sins and to love and serve God. A lot of the time it seemed like Hugh whether he knew it or not came across as God served him in the form of landing recruits or winning a big game.

It's one thing to cheat and that's bad enough as it is- but it's another to drag God into it and to try to use that as cover for your cheating is horrible.

But off of that soapbox- as far as football itself is concerned the thing that upset me from a MSU fan/alum perspective about their cheating is we built a team through hard work and eventually got to number one in the country and all of that. The team they built through cheating beat our team twice and cost us at least one Sugar Bowl bid if not two. It would be one thing if they built their team the way we did and they just beat us straight up on the field. I can tolerate and respect that. But to have deserved accomplishments taken away by a team that was built through cheating it's one of those things that in life isn't fair especially in the moment that it happens. I think this revelation about Freeze and who he really is plus the fact that Ole Miss will be hit hard by the NCAA and it appear to be snowballing quite frankly and knowing that they are at a very bare minimum are going to have to vacate the accomplishments that they achieved by cheating a little more fair and "right" even though to me to be honest it never will be truly right because our guys that worked hard didn't get to experience what they worked hard for and deserved more.

So, I hope they get slammed as hard as possible and I won't feel sorry for them at all if they get the death penalty. At least if they do get the death penalty they can actually at least look each other in the eye and say that they earned something for once.
In 2014 their cheating potentially cost us a playoff bid. Not for sure if we get in at 11-1 that year or not but there is a very good chance we would have.

Freeze has a history of womanizing. That's no longer being disputed. Even by Ole Miss fans.

After the underage girls rumors, an illegitimate child rumor, the affairs with women around Oxford rumors, the girl at his church rumor, etc... it may have actually made sense for him to try to find something a little more discreet. I don't doubt he was buying hookers for himself, even though his text to an OM website said otherwise (both parties there would lie without blinking though).

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that hookers are just a part of life at Ole Miss.

To the OP it does feel different...I found myself disappointed as I now feel the longer they kept him the more they were harming their own program.

That's not what Steve said. He said the phone records do not show a connection between escorts and recruits. The records he saw show that a phone call was made that could not be explained away as a misdial.

I'm going to say without equivocation that this all too believable story is just too convenient.

Om got its fall guy and he's gone. We are all eating it up because he's an easy person to hate with all the hypocritical bravado. But what another poster referred to as a bad smell is the notion that this rube who pulled all this off for almost 6 years let a phone number slip.

Bull. I don't believe he was never going to make it to the COI.

    I smell a rat's nest.
