Smoking a Boston Butt on the BGE today. Never have tried a butt before. Any pointers ? Right now I'm smoking it with Pecan Wood, Indirect heat with Water and Apple Cider vinegar for moisture.

Also have some Dog Fish Head 90 IPA that was bootlegged from the northeast to drink while cooking.

Family cookout was a success. Pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad. White can and watching the Tigahs kick ass.

Very nice. You make it out to Cat today? My dad and a buddy ran to the marsh between bands and got a limit of reds but got rained on the way back.

Tonight was leftover pork, CWS, and a crown black since we're going to 5pm mass tomorrow

Never made it out. Checked the radar at 4 and wasn't going to take the family out in that. (If it were just me, I'd make some dumb runs. Ha). Watched the radar all morning and those cells were popping up all over the sound. If the weather isn't better next weekend, I'll be making one of those questionable runs.

    Stone IPA now.

Fried some fish tonight, with baked potato salad, grilled asparagus, and scratch tartar. Started drinking beer, but switched to bourbon. Not a bad night.

Speckled trout tacos tonight. Went for a boat ride today, without any plans to fish and ran into some trout. Kept 5.

nice. quick question, are those the salt water variety? I saw some people off of one of those Galveston piers pulling in trout. they were using bobblers. not sure how deep they were fishing. are they as good to eat as the fresh water variety? my son and I just rented some rods and bottom fished. only caught some small cats. I did pull in a baby shark though. my son and I have only fished together a few times. we had to drag him away around 1:30 a.m.

They are. One of the most popular ways to catch them is a "popping" cork and live shrimp about 18" below it. I definitely prefer them over freshwater trout (white, mild meat). That said, speckled trout aren't actually in the trout family. They are drum.

Your son has the fever! I've been trying to shake it my whole life.
